Yuri Nikitin is a modern Russian writer. He writes in the genres of Slavic fantasy, science fiction, as well as in the style of a new direction in literature created by him - kogistic.
Childhood, adolescence
Yuri Nikitin was born on November 30, 1939 in the village of Zhuravlevka, which is a suburb of Kharkov. The childhood of the future writer was very difficult. First, his family had to endure famine in Ukraine, and then the Great Patriotic War. Yuri did not remember his father, because at the beginning of the war, dad went to the front, was wounded and died in a hospital near Berlin. Nikitin was raised by his mother, grandmother and grandfather. Mother spent a lot of time at the weaving factory where she worked at that time. Yuri often stayed with his grandfather, who taught him a lot. Thanks to his grandfather, he became a jack of all trades.
At school, the future writer studied mediocre. After the 9th grade, he was expelled and got a job at the plant. At the age of 18, Nikitin wanted to join the army, but due to poor health he was given a "white ticket". Due to the difficult living conditions, Yuri was often ill. Diseases gave complications to the heart. Nikitin was offered an operation, but he refused interventions and became interested in yoga.
To make good money, Yuri went to logging in the Far North. He asked a friend to replace him on the medical board. After a trip to the north, he worked in exploration expeditions, traveled extensively in Primorye and the Far East. In 1964 Nikitin returned to Ukraine and got a job as a foundry worker at the plant. But he felt the need for creative self-expression, learned to play the violin, tried to draw and write stories. Yuri became interested in sports, went in for martial arts, despite the existing health contraindications. Having tried himself in different directions, Nikitin decided to seriously engage in literary work.
Writing career
In 1973, Nikitin's first book, "The Man Who Changed the World", was published. Following her came his novel "Fire Worshipers". In it Nikitin told about the life of foundry workers. For this novel, he received several prestigious awards and was admitted to the Writers' Union. In 1979, the book "The Golden Sword" was published. Nikitin hoped that she would bring him success and fame, but it turned out differently. Some of the dignitaries did not like the work, and until 1985 the author's books were not published.
To improve the level of education, Nikitin entered the Higher Literary Courses at the Literary Institute and after graduating in 1981 returned to Kharkov. A few years later he moved to Moscow and worked as editor-in-chief of the Otechestvo publishing house.
In the early 90s of the last century Nikitin and his colleague Lilia Shishkina organized the Zmey Gornych publishing house. First, they released foreign science fiction novels, and then exclusively the works of Nikitin himself. In 1993, Yuri wrote the work "Three from the Forest". Suddenly, he became the founder of a new trend in literature, which was called "Slavic fantasy". The book "Hyperborea" was written in the same style. Nikitin referred to this genre and "The Golden Sword", because of which it was not published for many years.
Nikitin has written over 60 books. Their total circulation is comparable to the publications of the most popular writers. At the end of the last millennium, his works were very popular:
- Ingvar and Alder (1995);
- Rage (1997);
- Trumpet of Jericho (2000).
Nikitin's books influenced the worldview of his fans. For example, after the publication of "The Russians Are Coming", many people converted to Islam.
Yuri Alexandrovich writes mainly in the style of fantasy, but among all his works the series "Strange Dreams" stands out. The idea of transhumanism is clearly traced in it. The author calls this style "kogistic". He is the only writer working in this direction.
In 2001, Nikitin began publishing books about Richard Long Arms under the pseudonym Guy Yuliy Orlovsky. For several years, he managed to maintain an intrigue. Devoted readers and critics themselves began to guess who was behind the pseudonym, according to the author's characteristic speech patterns and writing style. Nikitin confessed to the authorship at the presentation of one of the awards. After that, he published several more series of books about Richard Long Arms under a resounding pseudonym.
Yuri Alexandrovich is known for his love of writing cycles of works. In the new millennium, he published several episodes:
- "Hyperborea";
- "Teeth wide open";
- "Princely Feast";
- "Strange Romances".
In Strange Novels, he touches on topical psychological and social problems. He pays great attention to the study of the influence of new technologies and progress on the change in morality and morality and invites readers to speculate on this topic for themselves.
Personal life
Yuri Nikitin is a rather closed person. He gave only a few interviews, but wrote a small autobiography. Some critics attribute this behavior to overestimation or arrogance. But Nikitin assures that this will lead to thoughts of achieving even greater success, which is often accompanied by a writer's stagnation.
Yuri Nikitin registered a marriage for the first time in 1969. His wife was Irina, whom he met at one of the creative evenings. Two children were born in the marriage. It is known that before meeting Irina, the writer had a serious relationship, as a result of which his illegitimate daughter Marina was born, whom he recognized.
Having been married to his first wife for many years, Yuri divorced her and in 2010 married Lilia Shishkina. Nikitin leads a healthy lifestyle, tries to play sports. He believes in cryonics and has already signed a contract for freezing with one of the specialized companies.
