Sharon Adele is a singer / songwriter for the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. He is one of the authors of the solo project "My Indigo". In 2011 and 2014, the singer won the Loudwire Music Awards in the Rock Goddess of the Year category.
In addition to her musical career, Sharon Yanni den Adel successfully realized herself in business. She runs FTX offstage, Goods for Men. In addition, the singer holds a bachelor's degree in fashion design.
Takeoff start
The biography of the future vocalist began in 1974. The girl was born on July 12 in Waddinksven. The family already had one child, the elder brother Sharon.
Parents traveled a lot with their children. Until the age of six, Adele lived in Indonesia. The family managed to change a dozen countries.
Music was always played in the house. From the age of four, Sharon was fond of her. At the age of fourteen, the girl's musical career began. She went to study at a music college. All classmates turned out to be at least six years older than her. Soon the future soloist had to continue her studies among the guys: the two girls who entered with her left the training.
Adele decided that she had to overcome her fear of performing. She started singing in groups of friends. The girl studied new influences, experimented with the sound of her voice. As a result, the excessive shyness disappeared. The girl sang with the blues-rock group "Kashiro".
At one of the concerts, musician Robert Westerholt heard her performance. The guitarist liked the singing of the soloist so much that he decided to get to know her. However, the meeting began by listing all the shortcomings of the sound.
Frustrated by such a reaction from a professional, the young vocalist thought that she was not doing her own thing. She already worked for a modeling agency. However, the guitarist soon admitted that Sharon fascinated him.
Group creation
It took only three weeks, and young people began to perform in one group "Paradise Lost", which they created themselves. Prior to the first recording, the band was renamed "Within Temptation".
Initially, Adele's vocals played the main role in the sound. Gradually, the team gained popularity in Europe. 13 years later, their music has won the top lines of the most prestigious ratings in the world.
The group's creativity seemed unique. It was because of their sincerity that the listeners fell in love with their songs. All the compositions were written in the way the musicians thought and felt, they did not have a multi-million dollar advertising campaign. Such a take-off was like a real miracle.
In 1997 the first studio disc of the group "Enter" was released. It contained rather gloomy compositions in the style of gothic and doom metal. In many songs, instrumental rather than vocal sounds predominated. In several singles, Robert Westerholt sang as growling. This technique was not used in the future in any album: the musicians considered that the trick that had become fashionable in their work was unacceptable.
In 1998, the band's debut mini-disc appeared on Dynamo Open Air. The group acted as the headliner of the festival. The recording took place in Utrecht. The remixes were written by Oscar Holleman. Adele admitted that the members of "Within Temptation" did not even consider this idea.
Confession
The new studio disc "Mother Earth" became fateful. Starting with it, the band left the heavy and dark style of gothic metal and moved on to more melodic and light symphonic metal. The main compositions were dedicated to Mother Earth, living nature. According to Sharon, the film "Braveheart" became a source of inspiration for the musicians.
The composition "Ice Queen" was very successful. Sharon, who worked as a fashion designer, could no longer combine the two professions. However, she used her abilities to create costumes for members of Within Temptation.
The new album "The Silent Force" was released on November 15, 2004. Three versions were released: standard, basic and premium. The first is packed in a regular box with an 8-page booklet, the second without the booklet and in a regular box. The premium version came with additional content and two bonus tracks.
A week passed - and the disc became gold in Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands.
"Heart of Everything" was opened with the song "What Have You Done" recorded with the vocalist of "Life of Agony" Keith Caputo. In addition to the standard version, a special edition was released with a music video and live recordings.
On the 2011 disc "The Unforgiving", each song had a storytelling by Stephen O'Connell. The album itself is conceived in the format of a musical comic book series. All the images of the singles are their main characters. In support of the new album, a European tour was planned. All records of the disc are unique and in no way similar to the previous compositions of the band.
Family and music
The collection presented at the end of January 2014 was called "Hydra" by the musicians. This name was chosen by them as ideally representing the versatility of the works they perform.
After touring and touring in support of the new disc, Sharon den Adel refused to continue working. She decided to focus on herself. The singer was going through a creative crisis. The vocalist managed to cope with it, but her new compositions did not fit the group. They came out as a solo project "My Indigo".
The new album was announced in 2018. A new tour of the band was announced ahead of it. Almost a year before it began, all tickets were sold out. The collection "Resist" was presented in 2019 in the UK.
The vocalist has performed with the bands After Forever, Delain, Aemen and De Heideroosjes. She sang Anna Held in Avantasia Tobias Sammet and Indiana in Ayreon.
The personal life of the famous singer is also successful. Her husband is guitarist Robert Westerholt. Thanks to him, at one time Sharon learned about the work of the group "Paradise Lost". The songs had a huge impact on her later work.
The family has three children. The eldest daughter Eva Luna was born in early December 2005. Sons Robin Aiden and Logan Arvin were born in 2009 and 2011. Outside the stage, Adele is passionate about painting, gardening, reading fantasy books and playing badminton.
