early years
David was born in September 1960 into a family with two other children. He is the middle child of his parents. The boy's father, Arnold Smith, is a salesman. Mother's name was Pat Farrow - manager.
Full name is David William Smith. Born and spent his childhood in Milton, a small town in southern Canada. He studied at a regular school near the city of Toronto. From childhood he loved music, did a lot of it and dreamed of becoming a rock star. For the sake of his hobby, he dropped out of school, studying in high school. But the dream was not realized. Returning to school, he successfully graduated from it (1980) and entered the Polytechnic Institute. At the institute, he began to learn theatrical art. During his studies, he participates in theatrical performances at the Shakespeare Festival, which took place in Toronto, and does this together with famous theater actors.
Career
It is from the theater that David's career as an actor begins. Already in 1983 he received the high Jean Chalmers Award. The award was presented to him as the most promising actor. Following this event, he was admitted to the Screen Actors Guild of the United States. Then he decides to take the name David James Elliott.
In 1987, at one of the performances, he was noticed by a producer of TV series with SHS. James is invited to the TV series "Labyrinth of Justice", where he plays a police officer. This role was his first regular role. She was followed by several more insignificant and completely invisible roles, which did not bring the actor any fame. But he is committed to his goal - to get to Hollywood. For this he concludes a contract with Disney. But the contract breaks down and David, as an aspiring actor, remains out of work. Without losing hope, he begins to make his own way to Hollywood. James agrees to any role, even the most inconspicuous and low-paid ("Dark Justice", "The Hidden Room", "Catch your luck on the fly").
Luck
Good luck came in 1992. James marries American actress Nancy Chambers. In the same year he gets a serious role in the TV series "The Untouchables". Thanks to this film, he and his wife move to Chicago. But there another failure awaits him. For several years he did not have serious roles. He is rarely invited and again for cameo roles. Only in 1995, he was finally offered a serious role in the series "Military Legal Service". Harmon Rabb's role in this tape provides him with work for a whole decade.
