Blessed Simeon, Archbishop of Thessalon, a 15th century liturgist, explains the meaning of the candle in this way: pure wax means the purity of the people who bring it. The malleable and soft wax symbolizes our willingness to serve God, the burning of a candle seems to indicate that a person is transformed into a new being and is purified in the fire of Divine love. A candle placed in the church and lit in front of the images is our meager sacrifice to God, the material expression of our prayers, which we turn to God, the Virgin Mary and the holy saints of God.
Instructions
Step 1
For health, you can put candles in any candlesticks, in front of any way. As a rule, they are all on a high leg, except for those on the eve table.
Step 2
You need to light a candle on the fire of already burning candles, melt the bottom and put it in the candlestick's nest. If there are no empty seats, you need to put a candle in a special box, the ministers will light it later.
The most important thing here is prayer. Ask the Lord for others, for relatives and friends, pray even for your enemies. Do not forget to say a prayer and bow to your patron saint.
Step 3
A candle for repose can be placed in candlesticks on the eve table. This is a table with a rectangular candlestick with a crucifix on it. First of all, cross yourself with a bow. To detach from the earthly, look a little at the candle light, think about the departed, remember their faces, smiles. Reach out to them in your thoughts. Don't hold back your tears.
Step 4
If it so happens that the minister has extinguished your candle, do not murmur, either mentally or aloud. Your sacrifice has already been accepted.
Step 5
It happens that on a holiday all the candlesticks are busy, do not be upset. After all, the most important thing is to say a prayer, get closer to God, turn to him. Words spoken from the heart will surely be heard.
