Petersburg Mysteries is not only a well-known and full of mysticism television series. It is also a statement of the fact that the city of Peter the Great has been considered one of the most mystical and mysterious in Russia for three hundred years. It is full of myths and legends. One of them is the so-called Court of Spirits, which has existed for many decades, even the address of which is still a secret of secrets.
Surganova's desire
“Yard of Spirits” became the object of increased attention and searches in 2004 - immediately after the release of the television program “History in Details” with the participation of Svetlana Surganova. The popular singer of songs was then brought to one of the St. Petersburg courtyards-wells, presented to her precisely as the legendary "Court of Spirits", and was offered to make a wish.
According to Surganova, who did not name either the address or the secret, her wish subsequently came true. There could not be a better advertisement - hundreds of people went in search of a courtyard, the spirits of which fulfill any dreams for free. The lack of precise coordinates, as well as the information that it is quite difficult for an outsider to enter the courtyard, does not stop lovers of exotic and adventure.
Moreover, quite quickly, several addresses appeared on the Internet, at which the "Yard of Spirits" is allegedly located. Moreover, they all directly or indirectly point to Vasilievsky Island, which only adds to the story of mysticism and intrigue. Most of the "votes" were collected by three versions of the location of the famous courtyard. By the way, it is considered a bad omen in St. Petersburg to name his exact address aloud.
According to Russian historians, Vasilievsky Island is located on the site of ancient pagan temples. It is possible that this very fact largely determines the mystical aura of the area.
Where is this street, where is this house?
The first of the versions is sent to house No. 5 on Repin Street along the fourth line of the island. You need to go from the side of Bolshoy Prospekt into the first arch and get into the farthest entrance. Or as the residents of St. Petersburg say - in the front door. By the way, once at this address there was an apartment building of Leopold Koenig, whose tenant was one of the most mystical artists of the 20th century, Nicholas Roerich. Wasn't he the root cause of the legend?
Version number 2 - a house with a "well" on the 16th or 17th line of Vasilievsky Island. The third widespread option is considered to be an old St. Petersburg house at number 16 on the 7th line of the island. It is known primarily for the fact that it once housed the pharmacy of Alexander Pel, the famous Russian chemist, forensic physician and pharmacist of the 19th century, who allegedly invented the secret of eternal youth.
Now in the house of Pel there is a museum of pharmacy. In the same courtyard there is the no less famous "Tower of the Griffins". The tower with a tin roof is eleven meters high and approximately two meters in diameter. The most mysterious thing about the brick tower is that it is covered with white numbers that are incomprehensible to outsiders.
According to legend, the St. Petersburg professor Alexander Pel bred huge griffins, which he took for a walk at night, frightening rare passers-by. To see Pel's griffins, by the way, sometimes you can even now - in the window reflections of the house-museum.
Legends 2x1, 5
In addition to the addresses, on the same Internet there are many photographs of the courtyard, which is a standard for St. Petersburg "well" between the walls of houses with an iron lattice at the top. But they only add confusion and doubt. Indeed, according to some sources, the dimensions of the "Court of Spirits" are approximately two by one and a half meters, while according to others they are somewhat larger. The mysterious courtyard also has three main legends.
The first one looks the most mystical. According to her, good spirits have long lived here, protecting the inhabitants of the island from troubles and anxieties, helping people to overcome all earthly hardships. The second and most popular story says that if you come to the "well", raise your head high and make a wish, then it will certainly come true. This is exactly what the founder of "Night Snipers" Svetlana Surganova did in 2004.
Finally, the third legend is directly related to romance and even, perhaps, to entomology. After all, some experts say that in the courtyard on "Vaska", as St. Petersburg residents call Vasilyevsky Island, there is a butterfly unknown to science. Upon seeing her, one can immediately meet true love.
