Fate favors few with unexpected gifts. On the stage, success is achieved by everyday work and talent. Gennady Belov was distinguished by his accuracy and purposefulness. He himself did not expect that after the performance of one soulful song he would wake up famous in the morning.
Childhood and youth
People who are wise by life experience know that it is not enough to have natural abilities, you still have to properly dispose of them. Gennady Mikhailovich Belov was born on November 2, 1945 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in Moscow. His father worked on the railroad, and his mother worked as a weaver at a worsted-cloth mill. The family lived with dignity, as they say, no worse than others. Folk songs and romances were often heard in the house. Mother and grandmother loved to sing. And they not only loved, but also knew how. From an early age, the boy absorbed words and melodies that he easily remembered.
During his school years, Gena was willingly engaged in amateur performances, regularly attended choir classes. After a short period of time, he became a soloist. At regional and city shows, the school collective very often won prizes. Belov, as a soloist, was awarded certificates and mementos. After the eighth grade, Gennady decided to get a professional education and entered a textile technical school. After graduation, the young distribution specialist ended up at the "Red Rose" silk fabric factory.
Professional activity
In those years, each large enterprise contained a House of Culture on its balance sheet. It was in such a cultural institution that various creative studios for young workers operated. Belov from the first days was invited to the group of amateur performances. The young man stood out for his vocal abilities among his stage colleagues. It is not at all surprising that soon Gennady was invited to the competition "Hello, we are looking for talents", which was regularly held on the All-Union television.
The performer with a rare timbre of voice was noticed by officials. Gennady was invited to work as a soloist of the song ensemble of the All-Union Radio and Central Television. In the summer of 1973, the song "You Heard the Blackbirds Sing" was played on the radio by Belov. Literally every other day, without the slightest exaggeration, the whole country sang this song. The artist's creative career was developing quite successfully. Famous Soviet composers and poets willingly worked with the singer. The song by Vladimir Shainsky to the words of Mikhail Tanich “I’ll get off at the far station” was performed for the first time in the film “In a secret to the whole world”. It is still performed today on television and at special events.
Recognition and privacy
In 1978, Gennady Belov received the title of laureate at the World Festival of Youth and Students, which was held in Havana. In 1988 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of the RSFSR".
The singer's personal life has developed well. He was married once. The husband and wife raised their son and daughter. Gennady Belov died suddenly of a stomach ulcer three days before his fiftieth birthday.
