Soviet and Russian singer Gennady Belov was one of the most popular vocalists of his time. The vocalist was recognized for his ability to strike high notes and a surprisingly soft voice. The performer was awarded the title "Honorary Artist of the RSFSR".

In the same year, the young artist was invited to play a small role in the film adaptation of Paustovsky's work "Northern Tale". The film consisted of two stories. The first tells about the Russian officer Pavel Bestuzhev. Before the Decembrist uprising, he was exiled to a distant garrison. Very soon, at the cost of his life, he saves his beloved and one of the Decembrists. The amazing story continues after a century and a half.
After completing eight years of study, Gennady decided to receive further education at a textile technical school. After graduation, he began work as a foreman at the Krasnaya Roza silk factory in Moscow.
Vocal art
The young man did not give up singing. He took an active part in amateur performances and various competitions. Gennady took vocal lessons from a famous teacher. The teacher called Belov one of the best students.
Gennady was recommended to participate in the program "Hello, we are looking for talents!" On television, specialists immediately drew attention to the talented singer. Viktor Popov, who headed the Song Ensemble of the All-Union Radio and Central Television, invited the promising contestant to become a soloist.
The audience quickly fell in love with the amazing softness and sincerity of the lyrical voice of extraordinary beauty. Belov was distinguished by a calm and noble singing manner, graceful musical phrasing and soulfulness.
Popov invited the new vocalist to perform the song "Drozdy". In his interpretation, the composition sounded on the All-Union radio in the summer of 1973. The celebrity came to the singer after the broadcast. Almost immediately the hit came out on gramophone record. Firm "Melodia" has released 100 thousand flexible minions.
In 1973, Belov was invited to the Moskontsert. At the same time, he entered GITIS, the pop department, wishing to receive a musical education. In 1974, the film "Aniskin and Fantomas" was released. Gennady Mikhailovich performed the song "Herbs, Herbs" in the film. The deafening success turned it into a hit.
Confession
Many famous composers have collaborated with the performer. The extraordinary manner attracted authors who strove for the soulfulness of their works. The artist's repertoire includes "I will descend at a distant station", "This big world", "Dawn the sorcerer".
The work with David Tukhmanov was especially successful. The popular composer offered the singer his songs "Hello, Mom" and "The Starry Song of the Sky". The artist also managed to breathe a new sound into the famous creation of Solovyov-Sedoy "Where are you, my garden?"
The author himself, who knew many interpretations of his composition, heard the versions he recognized as ideal. Therefore, he reacted with distrust and skepticism to the proposal to listen to his creation performed by Belov.
However, to the amazement of the author, he had never heard of such an interpretation. After the last bars had sounded, Soloviev-Sedoy could hardly resist asking the performer to sing again. The composition, popular in the forties, was so delicately processed by the singer that the author experienced great joy in its new sound.
In the mid-seventies, Belov left the Song Ensemble of Radio and Central Television. He completely switched to work at Mosconcert. He toured a lot, recorded songs at the Melodiya company. In 1978, Gennady Mikhailovich represented the country at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Havana. He became its laureate. Many times the singer has presented hits at the “Song of the Year” TV competition.
Summarizing
Young composers rarely wrote for such a voice. As a result, in the sixties, Belov began a creative crisis. He admitted that with great pleasure he performs songs that have already become hits and is not going to remove them from his repertoire. However, the problem of the lack of new compositions worried him more and more.
Belov sadly joked that the era of tenors was replaced by the time of baritones. However, even in such a situation, the performer did not lose heart. He happily greeted every offer, while admitting that it was very difficult to find the right things even from such a large number. The renovation went with great difficulty: composers practically did not write for high male voices.
In 1984, the performer took part in the work on the documentary "Pages of the Life of Alexandra Pakhmutova". In the picture, he performs the song "The Rustle of Bread".
In his personal life, the singer was happy. His family had two children, daughter Svetlana and son Dmitry. The artist passed away in 1988, on November 18.
