Instructions

Step 1

In order to track the path taken by a parcel, parcel post or registered mail, you need to know the postal identifier, which can also be called the "track number". This is an individual code that is assigned to all registered mailings. For parcels sent by "Russian Post" within the country, the track number consists of 14 digits (the last one is written through a space). Postal identifier for international shipments consists of 13 characters. Some of them are numbers, some are Latin letters. After the employee of the post office accepts and registers the parcel, he gives the sender a check, on which (in the lower part, after the name of the type of shipment and the check number) and the desired combination of numbers is indicated. If you want to track a parcel addressed to you, ask the sender to find on the check and dictate the postal identifier to you - otherwise you will not be able to obtain information about its location, even if you know exactly the sender's data, date and place of shipment.

Step 2

Go to the official website of the Russian Post located at www.pochta.ru. On the right side of the main page, you will see the inscription "Track", under which there is a window for entering the mail identifier. You can also go directly to the message tracking section at www.pochta.ru/tracking. On the Russian Post website, you can track not only a parcel sent domestically, but also shipments from abroad - the system works with most international tracking numbers. If the number is not accepted by the system, you need to track it on the postal service of the sending country.

Step 3

Enter the identifier. It is typed without spaces, brackets, or other characters. If we are talking about an international shipment, please note that the letters are entered in the included Latin layout and in upper case, otherwise the system will not accept the registration number.

Step 4

After entering the track number of the parcel, click the "find" icon. In a few seconds, you will see a list of all operations carried out with the package by this time. You can make sure that the track number has been entered correctly by checking the information about the sender and addressee at the bottom of the page. The weight of the parcel and its declared value will also be indicated there.

Step 5

The list of operations displays all events occurring with the parcel, starting from the moment it was received at the post office and ending with delivery to the addressee. After checking with it, you can see the operations performed at the time of the request, the date and time of each performed action, as well as the numbers and location of the post offices where this took place. This allows you to understand where the parcel is at the moment - at any of the sorting points, on the way between them, or at the post office of the destination.

Step 6

It is assumed that the tracking service for postal items on the Russian Post website works "in real time", but in practice, sometimes the service lags behind reality. For example, in the first few hours after receiving a parcel by mail after entering the track number, the data may not be displayed. This is a fairly common occurrence and should not be a cause for concern. In addition, some sorting points do not update information on weekends - and it is published "retroactively". Then, several messages may appear in the event history at once (for example, if the package managed to arrive at the sorting point over the weekend, go through the sorting and go further). However, if you sent the parcel a few days ago, and no information about its route is displayed after entering the track number, or the parcel statuses have not been updated for a long time, you need to write an application to search for the item. This can be done at any post office by presenting the receipt issued at the time of dispatch (or a copy of it) and proof of identity. Applications for the search for a lost parcel are accepted by Russian Post within six months from the date of dispatch.

Step 7

If the status of the parcel indicates that the item has “arrived at the place of delivery”, it means that it arrived at the post office, which serves the recipient's address. According to the official rules of the Russian Post, a notice must be issued on the same day, and the postman must deliver it no later than the next day. However, it is at this stage of delivery that failures often occur - sometimes the notification arrives only after a few days, and sometimes it is even "lost" on the way from the branch to the mailbox. In such cases, you can receive the parcel without waiting for notification. To do this, it is enough to come to the post office with an identity card and tracking number of the shipment - and the postal staff will be obliged to find and issue the parcel.

Step 8

The tracking service is free of charge, and in order to use it, you do not need to register on the Russian Post website. However, if you constantly receive or send first class letters, parcels or parcels - filling out the registration form will make the process of tracking shipments by track number somewhat more convenient. Your personal account will store postal identifiers of items that need to be tracked, and you do not have to re-enter them every time. In addition, you will be able to track your parcels more quickly - notifications about a change in their status will be delivered to you by e-mail immediately after the new data appears in the system. And residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, who have a personal account on the official website of the Russian Post, can even order delivery by the postman within the city.
