Step 2
The biggest changes were made in Germany. The Nazi Party was banned. In addition, many Germans who had lived in different countries of Eastern Europe before the war returned to their historical homeland. One of the reasons was interethnic conflicts that arose during the war. The repatriates were forced to adapt to the unfamiliar conditions for them.

As a result of the Second World War, the balance of power in Europe changed. In Eastern European countries, under the influence of the Soviet Union, coups d'etat took place, communist parties and parties close to them in ideology came to power. Soon after the war, these countries formed a defensive bloc called the Warsaw Pact. The international authority of the Soviet Union has increased.

This territory was transformed into the Kaliningrad region and annexed to the RSFSR. Part of the disputed territories was received by Poland - Pomorie with the large ports of Gdansk and Szczecin. Western Europe returned to the bourgeois system, in the countries of Eastern Europe the socialist mode of production with a high share of the public sector became the main one. After the war, the nature of labor migration changed. For citizens of Eastern European states, the opportunities to relocate in search of unskilled jobs have been significantly reduced. Labor migration took on the character of “brain buying”, when mainly educated people, who were in demand in Western Europe and the United States, left the Eastern European countries.
