In the Orthodox Church, there is a custom according to which the name of a person close to you can be mentioned in the liturgy if you submit a special church note. However, it must be completed in accordance with church rules.
Instructions
Step 1
Fill out the note correctly. On one sheet of paper, you can submit both separate names and a list of names, which should not exceed 10, however, it is necessary to separate those who are commemorated for health and those who are commemorated for the repose. The purpose of the commemoration, for example, for health, must be indicated at the top of the note. Also traditionally, an eight-pointed Orthodox cross is drawn on a piece of paper. The list can only contain the names of Orthodox Christians. Names should be given in Church Slavonic form and in the genitive case. For monks, their names are indicated after the tonsure. It is not necessary to indicate surnames and other personal information in the notes, an exception is made only for priests and monks, next to whose names their dignity is indicated. Also, the names of the ministers of the church should be indicated in the note before the names of the laity; try to write in legible handwriting, preferably in block letters.
Step 2
Choose a time to send the note. This can be done both on the eve and immediately before the Liturgy. If you want the commemoration to be held on that day, come to church in the morning. Please note that it is advisable not to submit memorial notes during the main Orthodox holidays - Easter, Christmas and others, since the names of the deceased are not announced as part of the festive service. The only exception is the day of Trinity. However, you can submit a memorial note the next day. You can get the form for the note directly at the church. It is also possible to order an individual service, which is held after the main liturgy. Another version of the prayer service is the magpie. In this case, the person's name will be mentioned in the liturgy for 40 days. On request, there is also a longer commemoration - throughout the year. In some monasteries, you can also order an eternal commemoration of the deceased.
Step 3
Make a church donation. In large churches, the amount you want is usually indicated, which usually depends on the number of memos submitted, but you can increase the donation if you want to help the church.
