World rock and pop culture every year gives us new interesting performers, and many of its representatives have been delighting fans of these musical trends with their works for several decades. A separate place in this niche can be assigned to Swedish music.
The creator and founder of Swedish metal can be considered an innovative guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, who was the first to introduce the concept of neo-classic metal on the stages of Sweden. Among the most popular representatives of rock culture are such bands as HammerFall, Pain, In Flames, Draconian, Deathstars and many others. Swedish pop culture is also full of very famous performers who have gained recognition not only at home but also abroad.
The ABBA group is the third largest selling group in the world after the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
Legendary ABBA
One of the Swedish pop groups was the world famous ABBA band. The group began its existence back in 1972, and broke up 10 years later, in 1982. Despite this, the hits of this group still sound from screens and speakers. The name of the group was formed from the first letters of its members - Agneta Feltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Fried Lingstad. Recordings of this group have been sold all over the world, and their total circulation amounted to more than 350 million copies.
Music of the 90s
Another famous pop group is ROXETTE. It was founded in 1986 and still exists today. It includes Per Gessle - vocalist and songwriter, music, Marie Fredriksson - vocalist and piano player, as well as other musicians. ROXETTE's music is still popular today, it is often used as soundtracks for films, mostly made in Sweden. Examples of such films are "Let Me In" and "Arn - The Kingdom at the End of the Road" released in 2008, as well as 16 other films.
It is worth remembering another Swedish musical group, without which no disco of the 90s can do. This is Ace of Base. The group dates back to 1990 and has existed to this day. It consists of 4 members: Jonas Berggren, Ulf Ekberg, Lynn Berggren and Jenny Berggren. Album of the group "Happy Nation / The Sign" became the best-selling debut album in the entire history of the existence of this direction of music.
After the departure of vocalist Lynn Berggren in 2004, Ace of Base is already performing as a trio.
Of course, when listing the most popular pop culture performers in Sweden, one cannot fail to mention another singer - E-Type. His real name is Bo Martin Eric Ericsson. He was born on August 27, 1965 in the city of Uppsala. He began his career in 1991 and continues to delight his fans to this day. He released 6 albums in total, which sold well both in his homeland and abroad.
