William Henry Cosby Jr. was born back in 1937 on July 12. Little Bill had a very difficult childhood. His father was a sailor and loved to drink heavily. Thanks to his successes, he got the opportunity to transfer to a school for gifted children. Unfortunately, Cosby failed to graduate. He could not pass the exams and left school with a scandal. After that he did not study anywhere, was interrupted by small earnings, and in 1956, like his father, he went to the navy.

Career

During his military service, Bill Cosby served as an orderly. Participated in hostilities. Along the way, he was able to fill the gaps in knowledge, and after demobilization he was able to get a job at the university (in 1961). The training required money, and Cosby took up a part-time job as a bartender, where he got his first experience of humorous performances. Regularly gathering the audience in the bar for his impromptu performances, he decided to take up humor professionally.

The talented and witty guy began to appear regularly on the stage of the largest clubs in Philadelphia, and already in 1963 he became known throughout the country. For his concerts, he received the prestigious Grammy Award and his first professional contract with Warner Brazzers.

In 1965, he starred in the TV series I Am a Spy, which earned him three Emmy awards. It is worth noting that he became the first black actor in the United States to achieve such heights in cinema. Cosby began to appear regularly on popular talk shows, and later launched his own program on TV, The Bill Cosby Show. Along the way with work on TV, he decided to complete his studies and get higher education. By 1976, he completed his master's degree and defended his doctoral dissertation on the use of popular television programs in the school educational process.

Since 1964, the famous actor has been married to Olivia Hanks. For the entire time of their union, five children were born: Ensa, Erica, Erin, Ennis and Evin. Cosby's only son, Ennis, was killed in the late 90s, and Ans's daughter died of kidney disease in early 2018.
