If you want to wear the same surname with your other half, but an official marriage is impossible for you for some reason, there is a way out. According to the current Russian legislation, every citizen over 14 years old has the right to apply for a change of surname, first name or patronymic.
Instructions
Step 1
Submit an application to the registry office. Getting married is the easiest, but not the only way to change your last name. Any citizen of Russia over 14 years of age has the right to voluntarily submit an application to the registry office at the place of residence to change the surname, name or patronymic. It must indicate the current name, date and place of birth, citizenship, marital status; names, surnames and patronymics of all minor children; details of civil status records in relation to themselves and their minor children; as well as the desired surname, name and patronymic. The last point in the statement is the reason for the change of name.
Step 2
Attach all the necessary documents to the application: your birth certificate, birth certificates of minor children (new information about the parent will be added to their documents), marriage certificate (if you are a member of it), divorce certificate (if required to return the premarital surname). Persons under the age of 18 will need the consent of both parents or guardians to change their surname.
Step 3
Wait for your application to be reviewed by the registry office. According to the law, this must happen within one, maximum two months. After that, you will receive a certificate of surname change, with which you can get a civil passport for a new surname. You will have to spend a lot of time getting other documents with new personal data, but if you really want to wear a different last name, it will be worth it.
