Yegor Titov is one of the brightest Russian footballers, the former captain of Spartak and the national team. In 2007 he became one of the five most popular players among fans according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.
Childhood and youth
Yegor Titov was born on May 29, 1976 in Moscow. His family can be safely called sports. Yegor's father, Ilya Titov, is a former speed skater, master of sports in this sport. Almost from the cradle, he began to cultivate a love for skates in his son. However, Egor chose grass instead of ice. His father in no way interfered with the choice of his son, and at first he thought that the passion for football would eventually pass.
When it became clear in the family that Yegor was living by this game, he was enrolled in the school of the capital "Spartak", which was located in Sokolniki. He was barely 8 years old. Then the parents did not understand that they had predetermined the fate of the child: Titov spent the lion's share of the football player's career in the camp of the “red and white” ones. The father resigned himself to the fact that his son preferred the ball, not the skates, and in every possible way helped him in the training process.
When Yegor was 16 years old, he was invited to play for the backup team of Spartak. Three years later, he came out already in the main team.
Carier start
In 1995 Titov was firmly entrenched in the main squad of the "red-whites". Egor played as a central midfielder. In the debut season for the footballer, Spartak lost the championship to Alania from Vladikavkaz and took the third place in the final table, leaving Lokomotiv ahead. Titov played 9 games that season, got one yellow card and scored one goal. Not bad for a novice midfielder. That season the club played under the leadership of Oleg Romantsev.
In 1996, the "red-whites" under the leadership of Georgy Yartsev became the champions of the country. Titov had already played 31 games that season, scoring five goals. Subsequently, he improved his skills on the field. Sports critics noted that Titov possessed the so-called football intelligence. He saw the field well and knew how to give an accurate pass. However, its key advantage was the ability to drive the enemy into a dead end with non-standard strokes. Titov did this on a permanent basis, and not from time to time.
Many sports experts called Yegor Spartak's playmaker, in other words, the main figure on the field. He became "red and white" in an era of change at the club. Then such Spartak stars as Vladimir Beschastnykh, Sergey Yuran, Valery Karpin, Victor Onopko, Stanislav Cherchesov finished their careers. They were replaced by young people, among whom, in addition to Titov, were Andrei Tikhonov, Dmitry Onanko. In fact, it was a new team, whose style of play was built around the playmaker in the person of Yegor. It was he who chose the direction of the attack, its speed. Thanks to this, he soon put on the captain's armband, first in the club, and then in the national team.
Despite the renewal of the roster, Spartak has been the champion for six years in a row since 1996. Titov in 1998 and 2000 was recognized as the best footballer in Russia. During the same period, he was actively interested in foreign clubs, including Bayern Munich. However, the leadership of the "red-whites" asked a fabulous sum for the player, which the Germans could not pay. The club did not want to give away Titov, since the whole game was based on him.
Career decline
In 2003, a crisis began in Spartak. Then he became tenth in the final table of the Russian championship, which led to great changes in his activities. The leadership has changed, and with it the vector of the club's development. New coach Nevio Scala relied on young players. Titov was then already under thirty, which is a lot by football standards. They began to let him out on the field less and less.
In 2004, Yegor was convicted of taking bromantane. This is a prohibited drug, which was followed by a year's disqualification. Because of this, he missed the European Championship in Portugal. Titov increasingly began to move away from the world of football. He even went into creativity - he tried to sing. After being disqualified, he essentially never returned to football. However, formally, he played for the “red-whites” for three more years, even was the captain and won the “silver” of the Russian championship with them.
In 2007, the then coach of the national team, Guus Hiddink, sent Yegor an invitation to the national team, but he refused, citing family problems. Subsequently, he admitted that at that moment he simply had no motivation.
In 2008, Spartak was headed by Stanislav Cherchesov. With Titov, he could not find a common language. As a result, the footballer decided to leave his home club for Khimki. However, there Yegor lost the whole season. In 2009, he became a Lokomotiv player, not Russian, but Kazakhstani.
In 2010, Titov announced the end of his football career. However, in 2012, he still entered the field. So, he played for Arsenal Tula. At that time, his coach was Yegor's longtime friend, former Spartak player Dmitry Alenichev.
Coaching work
In 2015, Yegor again comes to Spartak, but now as an assistant to the head coach. At that time it was Dmitry Alenichev. A year later, the friends left the club.
In 2017, Alenichev was invited to Yenisey. Titov went with him to Krasnoyarsk in the role of his assistant.
Personal life
Yegor Titov is married. The footballer met his wife Victoria when he was 13 years old. Two daughters appeared in the marriage - Anna and Ulyana.
