The patriarch is the highest rank of the church hierarchy, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church. Therefore, referring to him, both orally and in writing, one should observe generally accepted dogmatic rules.

Step 1
Before you start writing a letter to the Patriarch, you need to clearly imagine the subject of your appeal to him. You must understand that the church's first hierarch bears many worries about the fate of the church every day, so the subject of your letter should be really important. Make sure you cannot ask a lower-ranking clergy with your question, such as a local bishop or metropolitan.
Step 2
The letter should be started with the following appeal to the Patriarch (indicated above the text of the letter in the upper right corner):
His Holiness
Patriarch of Moscow
and All Russia [name of the Patriarch]
from [your submission].
It is important for every believing Orthodox Christian to receive a pastoral blessing, therefore, you can directly start the story with the words: "Vladyka, bless." Or: "Your Eminence, bless." The following appeal will also be correct: "Your Holiness, His Holiness the Patriarch, the Gracious Archpastor and Father!"
Step 3
The text of your message must be correct and grammatically correct, it must not contain threats, insults and profanity. In the course of the story, the Patriarch should be addressed to “Your Holiness” or “His Holiness Vladyka”. Express your thoughts consistently, in a simple and understandable language, without using jargon and dialects. Be respectful.
Be sincere and open, do not post anything that you cannot be sure of. It is not appropriate to turn to the Most Holy Vladyka with conjectures and doubts.
The titles and titles of His Holiness the Patriarch should be written with a capital letter.
Step 4
Address your letter to the press service of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, located at: 119034, Moscow, Chisty Pereulok, 5. Your letter will not reach the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church immediately - first it will be studied by the responsible officials of the Patriarchate.
