The first rule of any translator is to translate from a foreign language into a native language. You must first master your own language at the proper level. Only by knowing your own language will you be able to fully realize the potential of a foreign language.

Instructions
Step 1
Read the text. Mark in it, and perhaps immediately write down words that are new to you on a separate sheet. Take a dictionary and translate everything that was written out / underlined. Read the text again, this time applying to it the words that you found in the dictionary. To understand any text, you need to be able to formulate its theme and main idea. Start with the topic, even if you have a rough understanding of the content of the text., Theme is the subject of a given narration (phenomenon, event, which is referred to in the text). An example of the topic of the text - “The Olympics will take place in Sochi in 2014”, “A volunteer movement has been created to combat the problems of homelessness”, etc. And the idea is the main idea of the author on this topic.
Step 2
Break your text into paragraphs. This will make it easier to make a detailed translation. Read every paragraph, write out the translated sentences. Make a literal translation first. It should rather resemble a diagram, where all the elements are taken into account - not a single word is missing. Work with the dictionary, do not be lazy to look at the different meanings of words, look for shades of meaning. To do this, constantly hold the context in which the story unfolds.
Step 3
Edit the resulting text to give it a more literary style. Connect sentences with each other, guided by the understanding of the main idea of the text (it should be revealed to you in the second step). You can use fixed expressions of the Russian language to make the meaning of the text more understandable, closer to Russian reality. But such adjustments must be made carefully, without altering the main message.
Step 4
Proofread the resulting translation, see if the compositional structure and style of the original text have been preserved. Follow the logic of the original. Make sure that the theme and idea stated in the original text are implemented in your translation. Let the translation lie down for a few days. Then go back to it and make some more edits.
