early years
Sergey Vytauto Puskepalis was born on April 15, 1966 in the city of Kursk. His father, Vytautas Puskepalis, is from Lithuania, and his mother is from Bulgaria. Seryozha's father is a geologist by profession; their family lived in Chukotka in the town of Bilibino. As a child, Sergei wanted to become a military pilot.
In 1980, his family moved to the city of Saratov. At school, Sergei attends a drama club, and after completing the eighth grade, he enters a theater school (on the course of Yuri Petrovich Kiselev).
After graduating from the Saratov theater school in 1985, Sergei was called up to serve in the army. For three years he served in the navy in the city of Severomorsk. In 1988, having demobilized with the rank of foreman, Sergei returned to Saratov.
Theatre
In Saratov, Sergei Puskepalis gets a job at the theater for young spectators to his former teacher Yuri Petrovich Kiselev. Under his leadership, he has been serving on the stage of the theater for over ten years. The most famous roles of Sergei on this stage: Belugin based on the work of A. N. Ostrovsky's "The Marriage of Belugin" and Donald Baker in the production of "These Free Butterflies" by Leonard Gersh.
In the late nineties, Sergei Puskepalis entered the Moscow GITIS on the course to the teacher Pyotr Naumovich Fomenko. In 2001, after graduating from the directing department of GITIS, Puskepalis staged the performances "Twenty Seven" and "From the Red Rat to the Green Star", in collaboration with Alexei Slapovsky.
From 2003 to 2007, Sergei Puskepalis holds the position of chief director at the Drama Theater. A. S. Pushkin of the city of Magnitogorsk. Since December 2018, the artist has been appointed to the position of Deputy for Creative Work at the Gorky Moscow Art Theater. In 1999 Sergey Puskepalis was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
Movie
The film "Walk" (2003), directed by Alexey Uchitel, became the debut role in the cinema for Sergei Puskepalis. In the period from 2003-2019, the artist starred in almost forty film projects. Among them it is worth noting such works: "My boyfriend is an angel", "Siberia. Monamur”,“Metro”,“Cry of an owl”,“Divorce”,“Life and Fate”,“Battle for Sevastopol”,“Walking through the agony”,“New Yolki”,“Frozen carp”.
In 2015, at the Golden Apricot Film Festival in Yerevan, the film Clinch was shown, in which Sergei Puskepalis acted as a director.
Personal life
With his first wife, Elvira Danilina, Sergei met as a student at the Saratov theater school. This marriage was not long, the couple soon broke up.
The artist's second darling is called Elena, by profession she is a hydrogeologist. They got married in 1991, and two years later the couple had a son, who was named Gleb.
In 2013, Gleb graduated from GITIS, faculty of directing (on the course of Sergei Zhenovach). Sergey loves his family very much and after filming he always hurries home to his wife and son. The artist and his family live in the city of Zheleznovodsk.
