Jes Macallan is an American actress. She became widely known for her role as Josslyna Carver in the ABC TV series Mistresses (2013–2016), and her role as Ava Sharp in the American TV series Legends of Tomorrow.
Biography
Jess McAllan was born on August 9, 1982 in Sarasota, Florida (USA). Jess is the oldest of seven children in the family. She has three sisters and three brothers. Macallan developed an interest in art at an early age, she studied dance from the age of three for twenty years and is still practicing today.
The actress attended the University of Florida and received her BA in International Marketing. After that, she studied in absentia at the prestigious Bocconi University in Milan.
Then Jess moved to New York, where she graduated from the Maggie Flanigan acting studio.
Career and creativity
In the early 2000s, Jess began her modeling career working as a fashion model. From 2001 to 2004 she was a model in Miami and New York.
In 2008, McAllan made her debut in the low-budget film Ocean 7-11, playing the role of Dusty. In the same year, she also starred in two other films, including One, Two, Many and Identity Crisis.
In 2009, the actress starred in the crime film Gun for Hire, directed and written by Brad Giurgens. She also starred in Behaving Badly as a cocktail waitress and Hired Gun.
In 2011, McAllan starred in the short film Football Fairy as Kelsey. She also starred as Ali in Being Bin Laden.
From 2011 to 2012, Jess McAllan starred in many television series, including Beauties Fatal, Shameless, Protector, Justice, Grey's Anatomy and NCIS: Los Angeles.
In 2012, the actress played the role of Kelly Mitchell in the TV movie Crash & Burn.
In March 2012, Jess McAllan, with no notable projects on her resume, landed one of four leading roles in the ABC television series Mistresses. The series began filming in mid-2012 and premiered on June 3, 2013.
In 2014 she played the role of Ashley Cole in two episodes of the American television comedy-drama series The Red Banner Society (2014-2015). She also starred in the 2014 romantic drama film Kiss Me, directed by Jeff Probst. And the TV movie Mentor (2014).
In 2015 she played the role of Claire Taylor in the film Thirst.
In 2016, Jess starred in the romantic comedy Married for Christmas (2017), where she played the role of Carrie.
Since 2017, McAllan has played the role of Ava Sharp in the American superhero series Legends of Tomorrow, which airs on the CW. The series was renewed for a fourth season and premiered on October 22, 2018.
In 2017, the movie "Unusual Grace" was released, where the actress stars as Grace Conner.
McAllan wrote and produced the short film SELF, E. She also co-wrote 12 DAYS with fellow actor and friend Jerry O'Connell.
The actress is a volunteer for Animal BFF and is a strong supporter and contributor to Rally for Kids With Cancer charities to support cancer research in children and their families at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Canada.
Personal life
On March 17, 2012, Jess McAllan married Canadian actor Jason Gray-Stanford, who played Josh Inglander in the seventh season of Grey's Anatomy.
The actress and her husband met at the Florida Film Festival, Jess was 23 at the time. The couple lived together for five years. In 2017, Jess and Jason's relationship escalated and the couple filed for divorce. After the divorce, the actress was no longer in a serious relationship.
Macallan is very fond of animals. The actress has two pets: an Australian Shepherd and a Yorkshire Terrier.
