Biography

The future artist was born in July 1984 on the third day in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. From an early age, the boy had a genuine interest in music, and his parents decided to send him to a music school at the age of six. The first musical instrument of the talented boy was the piano. Two years later, Andrei was enrolled in the G. V. Sviridov, where he additionally began to master the balalaika.

During his school years he took part in all-Russian and international music competitions, where he regularly won prizes. Antipov graduated from both music schools with honors and gold medals. Then he entered the Rimsky-Korsakov College to continue his education.

Musical career

In 2000, the promising musician received an offer of cooperation from the famous conductor A. Afanasyev. Andrei accepted it without hesitation and in the same year began his work with the ensemble of Russian folk instruments "Silver Strings". After several joint rehearsals, the ensemble went on a long tour of Europe, which included performances in France, Germany, Spain and others.

In 2003, he graduated from college. During the exam, he conducted a "Russian suite" of his own authorship with the State Orchestra of the country. After graduating from college with honors, the musician decided to continue his studies and entered the St. Petersburg University of Culture and Arts. At the same time, Antipov received an offer to work in the Andreev State Orchestra.

In 2006 Antipov launched a new experimental project "GRAD-Quartet". The band performing music in the classic crossover style is gaining popularity very quickly and becomes one of the most recognizable bands in this style.

In 2008, Andrey Antipov finished his studies at the university having written his thesis on the topic "Balalaika-Contrabass", the work done so deeply affected all the subtleties and features of this instrument that later his diploma became a textbook in most music schools.

Today Andrey performs with his group "Bis-Kvit", which he founded back in 2002. The group gave more than 2000 concerts throughout Russia, the CIS countries and Europe. In 2011, the group was awarded the honorary title "Ambassador of Russian Culture".
