Candy Dulfer is a famous Dutch saxophonist. Her debut album, Saxuality, released in 1990, received a Grammy Award nomination. To date, Dulfer has released 12 albums. The style in which she plays is called smooth jazz. In addition to his undoubted musical talent, Dalfer also has a rather spectacular appearance.
early years
Candy Dulfer was born in 1969 in the family of the Dutch saxophonist Hans Dulfer. In early childhood, he instilled in Candy a love for the work of such great jazz musicians as Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon.
Candy began to learn to play herself at the age of six. Her first instrument was the soprano saxophone - the smallest type of saxophone. The girl progressed rather quickly, and at the age of seven she was already playing in a group from the Dutch town of Zuiderwaude "Jeugd Doet Leven". A little later, in 1982 (at that time she was only twelve), she successfully performed at the prestigious music event - the North Sea Jazz Festival.
At the age of 14, Candy created her own group, Funky Stuff. And when she turned eighteen, she was entrusted to act as an opening act for the singer Madonna. It should be noted that in the future, Dalfer has repeatedly collaborated with world-class stars. Quite often she could be seen on the same stage with the American R'n'B performer Prince. Candy has also worked with Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, etc.
The release of the first album and further work
In 1989, Candy Dulfer became famous all over the world. This happened after the song "Lily was here" was published, which the young saxophonist recorded with former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart for the Dutch film "Cashier" (directed by Ben Verbong).
Dulfer's debut album Saxuality, released a year later, solidified its success. In total, it has sold a million copies and was even nominated for a Grammy.
Over the next ten years, Candy recorded four more albums - "Sax a go go" (1991), "Big Girl" (1993), "For The Love Of You" (1997), "Girls Night Out" (1999). They were not as successful as the first, but they also occupied high lines in the American and European charts. For example, the album "For The Love Of You" stayed on the Billboard charts for more than forty weeks.
In the 21st century, Dulfer's career was also quite successful. In 2001 she released a live album "Live In Amsterdam". In 2002, the disc Dulfer & Dulfer appeared, in 2003 - the disc Right In My Soul, in 2007 - Candy Store, in 2009 - Funked Up & Chilled Out, in 2011 -m - a record called "Crazy".
The last album to date - "Together" - was released in 2017. In addition, it is known that in recent years Candy has been writing her own autobiography.
Candy Dulfer in Russia
For several decades, Candy Dulfer has been actively touring the world, invariably collecting full houses. In 2008, she first arrived in Russia as part of a tour in support of the album "Funked Up & Chilled Out". At the first concert in our country, Candy said that she loves pancakes, Russian vodka and borscht, and will definitely come again. And since then she has indeed been to the Russian Federation several more times. In particular, in April 2019 she gave a concert at the Moscow International House of Music.
Personal life
Candy Dulfer does not particularly talk about her personal life. But it is known that she has a husband. His name is Belo Senashi, and he is Hungarian by nationality. As Dalfer herself said, Belo was a fairly promising footballer, but the injury forced him to retire from the sport.
Candy and Belo met in 2008 on a cruise ship. They live in Iburg, in a beautiful new area of Amsterdam, located on artificial islands raised from the lake.
