Figure skating is a spectacular sport. As spectacular as it is tough. Alexander Svinin began his sports career in ice dancing. Then he took up coaching work.
Starting conditions
Long-term observations indicate that boys choose strength and team sports. Wrestling or boxing, football or hockey - this is a worthy choice for a man. However, figure skating requires no less courage, willpower and physical endurance from an athlete. Alexander Vasilyevich Svinin started figure skating by accident. He came to see how hockey players train in a closed ice rink. At that time, the training schedule changed, and figure skaters were engaged on the ice. I looked closely and two days later I came to my first lesson.
The famous figure skating coach was born on July 7, 1958 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in the famous city of Leningrad. My father taught electrical engineering at the university. Mother worked as an economist at an engineering plant. The child showed good plasticity of movements from an early age. He grew up energetic and slender. In primary school, his parents wanted to enroll him in a dance club, some accident prevented him from doing it. When Sasha decided to go in for figure skating, no one held him back. By that time, the boy already had good skates “on boots”.
Sports and creativity
Having started regular ice classes, Alexander felt a lack of time for study. Then he was transferred to a children's and youth sports school, where, along with a special one, he received a secondary education. In the early years, Svinin danced with Tatyana Evteeva. This duo did not achieve decent results. After a while he was invited to Moscow, where a successful duet was formed. Alexander Svinin “paired up” with Olga Volozhinskaya. Performing for the first time at the 1981 World Championships, they took 5th place. The dancers were trained by Elena Chaikovskaya.
The Volozhinsaya-Svinin pair won the USSR championship several times. The highest achievement for them was the silver medals of the European Championship in 1983. After completing his sports career, Alexander and his partner moved to the professional league. And here they took only second and third places. After a while, the dancers decided to go to the All Stars Ice Theater of Tatiana Tarasova. Seven years later, the theater fell apart. After that, Pork alone performed in an ice show on the ice of meticulous London.
Recognition and privacy
In 2001, Alexander, together with his new partner Irina Zhuk, returned to Moscow, where they took up coaching. Creativity in this area has borne worthy results. In 2009, the dancing couple, brought up by Irina and Alexander, became the European champion.
The personal life of an athlete and a coach can be told in a nutshell. Irina Zhuk and Alexander Svinin are legally married. Husband and wife spend time together both at home and at work. The couple has no children.
