Gennady Andreevich Zyuganov was born in a family of rural teachers (his mother taught in elementary grades, and his father taught most of the subjects at school. The future politician spent his childhood in the village of Mymrino. In his native village, he graduated from high school and began working as a teacher in it.

A year later he entered the Oryol Pedagogical Institute at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. From 1969 to 1970 he worked as a teacher in his alma mater at the Department of Higher Mathematics and at the same time worked in a trade union organization, was engaged in Komsomol and party work. Gennady Andreevich joined the Communist Party in 1966.

Party work

From the very beginning of the 70s, Zyuganov began to engage in political activities. In 1970 he was elected a deputy of the city and regional council of the city of Oryol. From 1972 to 1974 he served as First Secretary of the Oryol Regional Committee of the Komsomol. Then he was the secretary of the district committee, the city committee of the CPSU, head of the propaganda and agitation department of the regional party committee of the city of Orel, deputy head of the ideological department of the Central Committee of the CPSU.

In 1991, Gennady Andreevich became one of the initiators of the revival of the Communist Party and at the first constituent Congress he was elected chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. Zyuganov criticized the policy of Perestroika and called for the removal of Mikhail Gorbachev from the post of general secretary.

In 1993, the people entrusted the head of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation to represent their interests in the country's legislative body, Zyuganov was elected a deputy of the State Duma of the 1st convocation on the federal list of his party. Since 1994, Zyuganov has been the head of the party's faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The Communist leader several times claimed the presidency of the country, but he could not get ahead of the representatives of the ruling party.

The politician has an excellent organizational talent. besides his main activity, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is a co-chairman of the National Salvation Front, a member of the Spiritual Heritage and Fatherland movements, chairman of the Coordination Council of the People's Patriotic Forces of Russia.

Gennady Andreevich Zyuganov is an honorary citizen of the city of Oryol. He is the author of socio-economic programs, laureate of the Sholokhov Literary Prize. Awarded with medals and orders "Badge of Honor", Alexander Nevsky, Friendship of the peoples of Belarus.

Gennady Zyuganov is married. The chosen one of the politician was Nadezhda Vasilievna Amelicheva. They met at school and went to college together.
