Living in a country where 75 percent of people identify themselves with the Orthodox Church, some ask the question: why were they baptized in childhood, without allowing them to make their own choice? And although this choice has already been made, freedom of religion is one of the benefits of a civilized society. Thus, it turns out that sometimes an adult wants to change his religion to some other, more suitable for his worldview. So, the question arises: how to change religion?
Instructions
Step 1
Consider this step well. Consider all the disadvantages of the religion you want to give up, and then all the advantages of the faith you want to come to. It may well be that you are not satisfied with minor differences, for example, in church rituals, which, of course, is not a serious reason for changing religion. However, if you have important reasons, for example, if you and your spouse belong to different churches, and you want to baptize your child in one of them (or a third), then changing your religion will be a reasonable and balanced step.
Step 2
Go to the church of the religion you want to join. More often than not, people in Russia want to change Orthodox Christianity to Catholic. If you support a similar point of view, then look for a Catholic church in your city. There, as in an Orthodox church, you can talk to a priest who will explain to you what needs to be done to change your religion.
Step 3
Start attending a catechumenate group (study of the basics of religion by church members, or people preparing to accept a new religion). As you study the basics of faith, be careful and diligent. Understand, if this is still in doubt for you, that you can change religion only once in a lifetime, otherwise you will inevitably stumble upon disapproval and, possibly, even condemnation from other believers.
Step 4
Become ordained to a new faith after you complete your Church Fundamentals course. Each church has its own rite. So, for example, in the Orthodox Church, a person is immersed in a font with holy water and a prayer is recited, and in the Catholic Church, chrismation and exorcism take place (the expulsion of demons and everything bad from a person).
Step 5
Do not forget that by joining the new church, you have taken on new responsibilities, and, therefore, now your attitude towards life will definitely change. Do not be intimidated by these changes - you made your choice deliberately, which means that it was the right one.
