Edward Furlong woke up as a celebrity after playing the young John Connor in the legendary blockbuster Terminator 2. When Furlong became an adult, his film career began to decline. In recent years, he has starred mainly in Category B films.
Role in "Terminator 2" and other successes of the actor in the nineties
Edward Furlong was born in August 1977 in Glendale, California. His mother, a Mexican by nationality, was named Eleanor Torres, but the name of his biological father is unknown (there is information that he has Russian roots).
Until 1991, Edward was the most ordinary child. His fate changed dramatically after the casting agent Mali Finn invited him to audition for the role of John Connor in James Cameron's film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. As a result, Furlong was chosen among a large number of applicants.
After the release of the film, he became famous all over the world, and this allowed him to receive new profitable offers from filmmakers. In 1992, Edward starred in the horror film Pet Sematary 2, as well as in the crime film American Heart.
In American Heart, Edward played the role of a young man named Nick. The famous actor Jeff Bridges became Furlong's partner on the set - he played the father of Nick, a criminal who dreams of quitting crime after his return and starting life from scratch. For his work at American Heart, Furlong was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award.
Around the same period, the young man became interested in music and recorded a pop-rock album "Hold On Tight". Interestingly, this album was most popular in Japan.
Over the next few years, Furlong starred in such films as Our Own Home (1993), Brain Scan (1994), Little Odessa (1994), Meadow Harp (1995), Before and After (1996). But, perhaps the pinnacle of Furlong's career as an actor was the role of neo-Nazi Danny Vinyard in the cult drama American History X. For this role, he was nominated for the prestigious American Young Artist Awards.
The further fate of Edward Furlong
In the late nineties, Furlong developed serious problems with alcohol, drugs and the law, which, of course, could not but affect his career. In 2000, trying to overcome his addiction, he underwent a special rehabilitation course.
In 2013, the actor used physical violence against one of his girlfriends, for which the court sentenced him to six months in prison. However, he served only 61 days behind bars. His sentence was shortened in exchange for agreeing to undergo another drug addiction treatment program.
Today Furlong is mostly featured in low-budget films. For example, in 2016 he took part in the filming of the film "Winter Rose", and in 2017 he played one of the roles in the film "Reunion".
Personal life
After his first success in cinema, he met Jacqueline Domek, who was more than ten years older than Edward. Soon a romance broke out between them, and then Jacqueline became Furlong's manager. At some point, their relationship deteriorated - the reason for this was financial conflicts. They broke up in 1999. Subsequently, Jacqueline sued Furlong and was able to sue 15% of his fortune.
In 2005, on the set of the film "Jimmy and Judy" Furlong met an actress named Rachel Bella (she is known to viewers primarily from the movie "The Ring"). On April 19, 2006, Rachel and Edward officially became husband and wife. And on September 21 of the same year, they had a child - a boy named Ethan Page.
In July 2009, the couple broke up, but the divorce proceedings were fully completed only in 2014. At the moment, the actor is a bachelor.
