Starting conditions

About the events that took place during the war in Afghanistan, conversations and disputes do not subside. According to independent experts, the special forces fighters under the command of Senior Lieutenant Vladimir Pavlovich Kovtun demonstrated the highest professionalism, courage and audacity in carrying out a special command assignment. This episode remained a textbook and was included in all training courses for the tactical training of soldiers and officers. As a result of a short skirmish, the Soviet wars captured the Stinger anti-aircraft missile system, which was produced only in the United States.

The future officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) was born on July 27, 1960 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Ordzhonikidze. My father worked as a turner at an engineering plant. Mother taught biology at school. Vladimir grew and developed in no way standing out from his peers. When the time came to choose a profession, he firmly decided to get a military education at the Ryazan Higher Airborne School (RVVDU). After completing the tenth grade, Kovtun was drafted into the ranks of the armed forces. In 1980, after serving the due date, he entered the intelligence department of the famous RVVDU.

Professional activity

After graduating from college in 1984, Lieutenant Kovtun served in the Carpathian Military District. A year later, a part was transferred to Afghanistan. In early 1987, the paratroopers successfully carried out an operation to capture valuable trophies. As a result of this operation, Vladimir Kovtun was nominated for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. However, for unknown reasons, the awarding ceremony did not take place. During the period of hostilities in the adjacent territory, Vladimir Pavlovich received seven bullet wounds. In 1999, the military career for Colonel Kovtun ended.

Once in "civilian life" Vladimir Pavlovich did not intend to indulge in idleness. He organized a private security agency called Anticriminal. After a short period of time, Kovtun received an offer to do business in the agricultural sector. He agreed and got down to business with the sober calculation and accuracy inherent in an officer. In the village of Nedyurevka there was a dilapidated poultry farm. Thanks to the efforts and persistence of the new owner, in 2002 the company produced the first products.

Recognition and privacy

The military merits of Vladimir Pavlovich were recalled at the beginning of 2019. By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Colonel Kovtun was awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Russian Federation. The award was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The personal life of Vladimir Kovtun has developed well. He is legally married. The husband and wife raised and raised two daughters.
