Childhood and youth

The future president of the United States was born on October 14, 1890 in a large American family. Dwight was the third of seven brothers. At that time, the parents lived in the small town of Denison, Texas. Order and discipline were always maintained in the house. In the evenings, the family gathered in a large room, and each read a chapter from the Bible. Both father and mother were staunch pacifists, but the boy showed a keen interest in military affairs. He read all the books about the campaigns of Alexander the Great, Hannibal, Napoleon and other famous military leaders that were in the school library.
Service career
When Dwight decided to enter the Military Academy, his mother did not object. She wisely remained silent. In 1915, Eisenhower was promoted to lieutenant and departed to the place of further service. In the period between the two world wars, the officer established himself as a capable commander and organizer of special operations. He had to serve in Panama, the Philippines, in the central headquarters of the armed forces. During the Second World War, he gained combat experience, as a result of which he was appointed commander of the Anglo-American forces that landed on the Normandy coast in June 1944.
After the end of the war, the illustrious General Eisenhower intended to leave the service and go to "civilian life". But events unfolded in a different direction. In 1952, Dwight D. Eisenhower agreed to run for President of the United States from the Republican Party. I agreed and won. In the field of foreign policy, the president used the doctrine of removing trade barriers between the United States and the countries of the socialist camp. The abundance of commodities in the capitalist countries proved, better than any propaganda, the superiority of capitalism over socialism. President Eisenhower has accomplished much along the way.
Achievements and personal life
Dwight D. Eisenhower is the only US president to be awarded the Soviet Order of Victory. During two presidential terms, he managed to reduce tensions in the world, but he failed to formulate a complete disarmament program.
The personal life of the general and the president turned out well. At the age of twenty-six, Dwight married Mamie Dowd and lived with her all his life. The family had two boys, but the eldest died at the age of three from scarlet fever.
Dwight D. Eisenhower died in March 1969 after a long illness.
