Ilze Liepa made her theater debut when she was only five years old. The future world famous ballerina danced on the stage of the Bolshoi. Since then, the dancer's life has had many ups and downs, but she remained faithful to her profession for the rest of her life.
Childhood
Ilze Liepa was born into a family of actors, where everyone lived by work. Her father is the famous dancer Maris Liepa. Mother - Margarita Zhigunova - actress of the Pushkin Theater. The elder brother Andris Liepa and Ilze absorbed the spirit of creativity from childhood. They literally grew up in the theater. Therefore, it is not surprising that the brother and sister began to study ballet and both succeeded in this business.
The girl became a student of the Moscow Academic Choreographic School. In 1981 she received her diploma. But she continued her education, and after 10 years Ilze graduated from GITIS, where she studied at the faculty of choreography.
Career and achievements
Immediately after graduating from the ballet school, Ilze Liepa performed at the Bolshoi Theater as a soloist. The ballerina has danced in the operas Carmen, Khovanshchina, La Traviata, Ivan Susanin, Prince Igor, Iphigenia in Aulis, Ivan Susanin, Don Quixote, etc. The ballerina's repertoire includes well-known compositions, such as "The Dying Swan" by Saint-Saens and "The Death of a Rose" by G. Mahler, as well as ballets staged especially for Ilze.
Liepa is not only a talented dancer, she is a great and extraordinary theater actress. Her debut in this capacity took place in the late 90s. Among theatrical works, one can single out her roles in the performances "Your Sister and the Captive …", "Tea Ceremony", "The Empress's Dream", "The Framework of Decency".
Ilze Liepa's cinematic biography began in the mid-1980s. According to the actress, this time was very difficult for her, during this period the ballerina's parents were in a state of divorce, and working in the cinema helped her cope with depression. Ilze's play can be seen in the films "The Shining World" (based on the works of A. Green), "Lermontov", "Childhood of Bambi", "Youth of Bambi", "Mikhailo Lomonosov", "Pretenders" and "Empire under attack".
Ilze Marisovna often appears in various TV shows. In 2011 she was invited as a member of the jury for the Eurovision Song Contest for Young Dancers. In the same year, Liepa, together with Vladimir Pozner, was the host of the Bolero TV show and worked on the Orpheus radio in her author's program Ballet FM. In 2016, Ilze became the host of the Bolshoi Ballet ballet competition for young performers on the Russia Culture channel.
Currently, Ilze Liepa is the owner of the ballet studio, while the organization is quite large, the school has several branches in the Moscow region and St. Petersburg.
Personal life
The first husband of the ballerina was the famous violin virtuoso Sergei Stadler. However, this marriage was short-lived.
For the second time, Ilze married an entrepreneur Vladislav Paulus, whom the ballerina met on the set of an advertisement. The couple lived together for 14 years. They did not have children for a long time, but in 2010 Ilze became a mother at the age of 46. She had a daughter. Which was named Hope. But suddenly for everyone, this cancer disintegrated, besides the divorce was very loud, with the division of property and daughter, who at that time was only three years old. Ilze in one of her interviews called this union a “fatal mistake”.
