Step 1
After receiving the summons, do not postpone your visit to the prosecutor's office. By law, the summons must be handed over to you personally, but if it was simply put in the mailbox or handed over to people living with you, it is still advisable to come to the investigator to testify or have a conversation.
Step 2
If you want to be on the safe side and are afraid of being accused of something, find yourself a lawyer in advance. He can be present during the interrogation and, if necessary, will help you develop a defense strategy. For one visit to the prosecutor, you do not need to conclude a long-term agreement with a lawyer; it will be enough to agree on his presence during interrogation and preliminary consultation. If you are found accused, the state can provide you with free legal aid.
Step 3
A summons to the prosecutor's office is not a reason for premature panic. Even if you are accused of something, it is far from a fact that a visit to an investigator will be followed by an immediate arrest. Detention requires solid evidence and direct evidence.
Step 4
During interrogation, honestly answer the questions of the investigator. If you try to dodge and lie, you will most likely get caught in various inconsistencies. But you may not answer some questions at all. Also keep in mind that you have the right not to testify against immediate family members, such as a husband or wife, or against yourself.
Step 5
Before signing any documents, reread them carefully and consult with a lawyer. All your testimony must be entered into the protocol verbatim, without distortion. If this is not the case, you can refuse to sign the papers and demand re-interrogation or correction of the protocol.
