According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, a Russian can obtain dual citizenship in two ways: either with the knowledge of the state, or without. However, today, with the knowledge and consent and legal recognition of the Russian state, only a second citizenship of Turkmenistan or Tajikistan can be obtained. With all other countries of the world, Russia has not signed a corresponding agreement. Therefore, even if a Russian obtains a second citizenship of other countries, he is not considered a dual citizen in his native country.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide in which country you want to obtain a second citizenship. Each domestic law provides for its own rules and regulations regarding second citizenship. In any case, keep in mind that for Russia you will remain a citizen of one country (unless the second citizenship is Turkmen or Tajik).
Step 2
To obtain dual citizenship in Germany, you need to be either an ethnic German immigrant or a Jew. Accordingly, you will need documents (birth certificates, passports of relatives) confirming your nationality. If you have lived in Germany for more than seven years, you can also apply for citizenship. However, in this case, you will have to officially renounce your first citizenship, this is the law of this country.
Step 3
According to the Israeli Return Law of 1950, you can apply for dual citizenship in this country if you prove your maternal Jewish descent. You can also travel to Poland on a repatriation visa to obtain a second citizenship. This will also require documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate) proving that you are a descendant of Polish citizens, for example, taken to Russia during the Second World War.
Step 4
In a number of countries, it is possible to obtain dual citizenship for investments in the economy of the state. This practice exists in Dominica and other Caribbean countries, as well as in Austria, Montenegro, Canada (here you will also need a good knowledge of English, which will be verified by tests).
Step 5
Registration of dual citizenship in Australia, Great Britain, USA, Brazil, Cyprus is possible only after naturalization, that is, long-term residence and work in the country. Naturalization in a number of cases involves first registration of permanent residence (permanent residence) and, of course, excellent command of the official language of the country of which you are going to become a citizen.
