EXPO 2012 is a world exhibition that takes place from May 12 to August 12 in the South Korean city of Yeosu. More than 100 countries and international organizations take part in it, and Russia is no exception. Moreover, the theme of this exhibition "Living Ocean and Coast" is extremely relevant for our country.
This event allowed Russia to declare itself as a high-tech state that takes care of its resources and knows how to rationally and correctly use them. Within the framework of the exhibition, the country presents innovative developments both existing today and planned in the future.
In the huge pavilion of our country there are technical models that have no analogues in the world - a nuclear icebreaker of a new generation and a floating model of a nuclear power plant, with the help of which guests can learn how the safety system at modern nuclear power plants works. In addition, the Mir deep-diving vehicles, as well as models of the most modern Tidal Hydroelectric Power Station and the legendary Vostok station are on display. Especially for EXPO-2012, a virtual bridge of the ship was designed with a simulator installed on it, which modulates the passage of the ship along different bays in different weather.
In addition, the representatives of Russia made sure that as many guests as possible learned about the use of Russian developments in important world discoveries and about the country's role in preserving the diversity of the resources of the world's oceans. For this, a colorful and fascinating film was shot about the development of the Arctic, and a huge library with unique scientific material was compiled, which was taken from museums and organizations throughout Russia. This information, presented in Russian and Korean, could be freely viewed or downloaded by guests using the iPads available there.
But the main event of our country's participation in this exhibition was the Day of Russia, which was held on June 20. The guests were presented with a rich cultural and entertainment program with the participation of the Russian dance ensemble "Birch", ballet virtuosos and performer Tatyana Reshetnikova, who sang folk songs. An excursion was also organized to a Russian sailing ship that came to the bay of the city, and fascinating stories were told about the study of the South and North Poles by Russian scientists and travelers.
