Biography

The future actor was born in March 1879 on the 27th of the Gregorian calendar. Sergey was born and raised at the Bissert station. To receive education, he went to Moscow, where he entered an agricultural school. There, he first tried himself in the role of an artist, felt the stage and decided for himself that his future is inextricably linked with the theater.

In 1898 he joined the "Partnership", founded by Russian theatrical figures. And in the fall of the same year, the young applicant Sergei Golovin entered the Moscow Philharmonic Society, the famous music and drama course, which was then led by the legendary Vladimir Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko.

Professional career

Golovin began to take his first steps on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater as a student. In 1902, the admittedly phenomenally talented artist completed his studies and was enrolled in the troupe of the Moscow Maly Theater. Golovin not only performed at Maly, but also toured a lot. So he first appeared in the city of Chelyabinsk in 1909. His troupe played three performances on the stage of the People's House and returned to Moscow.

With the outbreak of the First World War, Golovin was mobilized, and he went to the front. During the period of turmoil and revolution, all the theaters of the country were nationalized and transferred to the balance of the newly-made Socialist Republic. Sergei Golovin, having a fairly good reputation among theatrical workers, quickly found his place in the new state structure. He was often elected to various leadership positions, but at the same time he tried to devote himself to creativity as much as possible, and not take part in political propaganda.

Since 1916, Golovin also took part in filming, but there are very few films in the actor's asset, since he preferred to perform more on the theatrical stage.

In 1935, the talented artist again visited the Chelyabinsk People's House on tour. During this visit, Golovin repeatedly met with the leadership of the Chelyabinsk region, during which they persuaded the artist to lead theatrical work in Chelyabinsk. Sergei Arkadievich agreed and for two years worked as a director at the Chelyabinsk drama theater. In two years, Golovin actually brought Chelyabinsk to a new cultural level, he staged many classical works, attracted Moscow actors for the work, most of whom remained to work in the harsh Siberian city.
