The future musician was born on May 25, 1978 in Peterborough, in the Canadian province of Ontario. At first he lived with his parents in the city of Markham, then the family moved to Norwood. Here Adam went to school. He became interested in music from a young age.
From 1992 to 1995, Adam participated in a school rock band. Later, he and two of his friends - Brad Walst and Neil Sanderson - decided to continue their musical activities in a new group, which was named Three Days Grace. All guitar and vocal parts of the songs were performed by Gontier. In 2003, the group released their debut album. Lead guitarist Barry Stoke soon joined the band.
Three years later, the public was presented with a second album, well received by critics. It was he who brought the group fame. The third album, released in 2009, strengthened the band's position in the world of contemporary alternative music.
