Biography
Sinatra was born on 1915-12-12 into a family of Italian immigrants in New Jersey. His father was a renowned professional boxer and his mother worked as the chairman of the Democratic Party in Haboken. The family was poor compared to other expats from Italy on the east coast of the United States.
As a teenager, Sinatra became interested in music. He used his ukulele skills to earn pocket money. The singer never received his education. At the age of 16, he was expelled from school for constant violations of discipline.
In the mid-1930s, Frank and his friend formed the band The Hoboken Four. In 1935, the team won the Young Talent Competition. After the victory, the group embarked on a tour of American cities.
The real success came to the musician in the early 1940s. It was during this period that Sinatra began performing with the Dorsey and James Jazz Orchestras and was noticed by prominent figures in the US show business.
Already in 1946, Frank recorded his first music album. Another disc was released two years later. After that, a black streak came in Sinatra's personal life and creative career - his wife filed for divorce, and the affair with the famous actress Ava Gardner turned into a big scandal. He was fired from the radio, concerts in New York were canceled, and MGM canceled his contract.
To top it all off, the singer suddenly lost his voice in 1951. Sinatra turned his attention to cinema. In 1953, he played in the film From Now and Forever and Ages. For his role in this film, Frank received an Oscar. At the same time, the singer regained his voice and began performing with the Rat Pack in Las Vegas. In addition to recording new albums, the singer began to often appear in films ("The Manchurian Candidate", "High Society", etc.).
During his creative work, Sinatra has recorded about a hundred hit songs. About 60 albums have been released.
In 1979, the singer recorded the song "New York, New York", which became a real hit. In 1995, Frank performed in front of the public for the last time, and on 1998-14-05 the legend was gone. Journalists dubbed this day the end of an era.
Personal life
The musician's first wife was Nancy Barbato. The family had three children - Nancy, Frank Jr. and Tina.
In the late 1940s, Sinatra began an affair with Ava Gardner, which led to a divorce from Nancy. In 1951, Frank and Ava were officially married, but 6 years after a series of scandals, they divorced.
In 1966, the singer tied the knot with the young Mia Farrow. With her, the marriage lasted only one year.
