Biography

Dmitry Shurov was born on October 31, 1981 in Vinnitsa, Ukrainian SSR. Dima's childhood passed in an atmosphere saturated with creativity, since his mother was a teacher, played the piano, and his father was a poet and artist. At the age of four, the future artist already knew what scales were and learned to play the piano. After 4 classes of music school, Dmitry graduated from the conductor-choral department of the Vinnitsa Music School.

Dmitry Shurov spent a lot of time abroad. He was educated in France. It was the knowledge of French and English that helped Dmitry to qualify for a three-month course at the Auguste Renoir Lyceum in Limoges, France. Then, the future artist on the Flex exchange program, he studied for a year in Utah (USA). In America, Dmitry played in a jazz orchestra, in the Barbershop quartet, sang in the octet and chorus. While in college theater class, he was a fan of 1950s and 60s American musicals.

At the age of 18 Dmitry Shurov returned from America to Ukraine. I entered the Kiev Linguistic Institute.

Career

In 2000, Dmitry was offered to join the Okean Elzy group as a session keyboard player. His debut concert as part of the group was played in Odessa on April 1, 2000. On April 20, 2001, Dmitry Shurov was admitted to the group on a permanent basis. He performed at concerts of three tours in Ukraine and the CIS countries ("Vimagai Bolshogo", 2001, "Supersimetry Tour", 2003, "Pacific Ocean", 2004, albums.

Acquaintance with the English director and musician Louis Frank, who shot the video "Friend", opened up new horizons for Dima. New musical ideas led to the joint work of Dmitry and Yuri Khustochka with Louis Frank. In parallel with their work in the "Ocean", the guys create the Esthetic Education group. In 2004 Dmitry Shurov left the legendary group. He explained his departure from the group with a certain inner freedom, which pushed him to create a single creative team.

After leaving Okean Elzy, he began performing in the Esthetic Education collective, in which he released albums, the single: “Face Reading” (2004), “Leave Us Alone” (2005), “Live At Ring” (2006), “Werewolf (2007).

In the fall, in 2006, cooperation with Zemfira began. In the process of this cooperation, on October 1, 2007, the fifth studio album "Thank you" was released. Dmitry Shurov became his co-producer. Also Dmitry, as a pianist, played a big concert tour in support of the album - almost 100 performances, one of which is a concert, which later appeared on DVD. It was directed by Renata Litvinova. The concert took place in Moscow at the Green Theater and was named "Green Theater in Zemfira".

Creation

In early 2009, Dmitry began working on the opera Leo and Leia, part of which was performed in Paris at a fashion show by St. Petersburg designer Alena Akhmadullina. In the process of work, Shurov was inspired by the creation of a solo project. His sister Olga Shurova, a graduate of the Kiev Linguistic University, helped Dmitry in the work on the project called "PIANO Boy".

His first performance under the pseudonym PIANOboy took place at the second Moloko Music Fest in September 2009. The next events at which PIANOBOY sang were the fashion show of Lilia Litkovskaya, the week of British cinema and the celebration of the birthday of the women's magazine "Harpers Bazaar".

In November 2009, the premiere of the first song "Smysla.net" took place on radio and television, and on December 29, 2009, Pianoboy played his first full-fledged solo concert in Kiev.

In January 2010, Dmitry began recording his debut album, and at the end of February he began a club tour across Ukraine.

On December 13, 2011, together with Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Sergei Babkin, Max Malyshev and Peter Chernyavsky, he presented the album "Brussels", which became a joint project of the musicians.

In May 2012, PIANO Boy's debut album, "Simple Things", was released.

In September 2013, the album "Don't Stop Dreaming" was released. And in April of the same year Dmitry won the ELLE Style Awards.

On December 14, 2013 Dmitry Shurov performed as part of the Okean Elzy group during the Euromaidan, and at the jubilee concert of the musical group in the Olimpiyskiy on June 21, 2014.

In the spring of 2014, the Moscow Sovremennik Theater staged the play Cinderella based on the work of E. Schwartz. Dmitry became the composer of the production.

On May 20, 2015, Andrey Kuzmenko's memorable evening took place at the Sports Palace. At this concert, Dmitry, together with the musicians of the "Scriabin" project, performed the song "Shampanski Eyes".

In 2015, two studio albums by PIANOBOY were released: “Take Off” and “Cohannya”.

In 2017 Dmitry Shurov became a member of the renewed jury of the X-Factor show.

Dmitry composes music not only for his project PIANOboy, but also for movies, TV series ("Mysterious Island", "Orange Love", "Servant of the People", "Hotel Galicia", etc.)

Personal life

Dmitry Shurov is married and has a son, Lev, who was born in 2003. Olga Shurova (Tarakanovskaya) is not only a wife, but a personal assistant to the musician, she is the PR director of the PIANOboy group. Dmitry lives with his family in Kiev.
