Each new generation is somewhat different from the previous one. Now a generation of young people is growing up, born in the late 90s - early 2000s. These are teenagers, high school graduates and new university students. They will soon replace the older generation, they will join the ranks of universities and new jobs. So what are they, these young people, what is the peculiarity of the students of the new millennium?

Modern Students: What Are They?
Modern Students: What Are They?

Instructions

Step 1

This young generation grew up in an era of rapid technological development. From an early age they already know the Internet, computers, the latest smartphones and tablets. They are often more familiar with the technologies and features of gadgets than their parents. These young people communicate on social networks more than through live communication; in this regard, they are more withdrawn than their parents who grew up playing outside games.

Step 2

They trust fashion designers, computer geniuses, and screen stars more than their own parents. The distance between parents and children increases, the transfer of experience in the family circle is disrupted. Therefore, the gap in values and understanding of different generations, although characteristic of any era, is especially clear in this generation.

Step 3

An oversaturation of information, and not only useful, but also harmful, unnecessary, as well as the lack of warm interaction in the family leads to negative consequences for a person. These young people, even as students and not young children, are incredibly hyperactive. However, this does not mean that they strive to do as much as possible due to their energy and determination. On the contrary, their energy is often wasted due to restlessness, inability to concentrate on one thing, constant switching of attention.

Step 4

Absent-minded attention contributes to the fact that they are able to assimilate information only for a short time - in very short portions. Addictiveness also contributes to this: Twitter, social networks, comics - all this teaches a young person to perceive information concisely, shortly and very quickly. Therefore, they will digest and analyze it in the same way. This leads to problems in decision-making, to difficulties in working with large texts, serious sources of information, data analysis, thoughtful, painstaking work.

Step 5

Another feature of this generation is that they were raised as a consumer society. From early childhood, they had no shortage of food, toys, information or technology. Many parents can provide their children with everything they need to live and more: providing them with such an incredible amount of goods that these children may not need. As a result, a generation is growing up that is provided with everything and does not know how to really deal with difficulties, to get food for itself, to endure at least some hardships and overcome them. Many of the young people do not even know what it is not to get what they want. All this leads to greedy consumerism, to selfishness and the "eternal child" syndrome, to irresponsibility and the fact that in the first place is not the person's personality, but all kinds of brands.

Step 6

Most of the current and future students will not be able to fully cope with the program of the university, or the program and the entire university system will adapt to the new conditions of existence. However, with the new educational standards and the introduced final exams in the form of the Unified State Exam, all this already fully corresponds to the new reality. Infantilism and selfishness of young people is based on the encouragement of adults: parents, teachers and teachers. Therefore, each of them will have to solve a difficult question himself: how to raise the new generation.
