Biography

The future footballer was born into a simple farm family on February 1989 in the small Croatian town of Omis. From an early age, Ivan was very active, and his parents decided to enroll him in some section. Especially little Perisic liked to kick the ball, and it was decided to send him to the football academy. One of the best academies in Croatia is considered "Hajduk Split", and the choice fell on it. Already at the age of six, he turned out to be one of the pupils of the club.

Perisic showed incredible results for his age, quickly studied and progressed, and 10 years later, already in his youth, he began to attract the attention of various European clubs. However, the talent of the young athlete unexpectedly turned out to be a real financial problem for the family. Ante Perisic, Ivan's father, decided to sell most of his poultry farm, take out a lot of loans, and he made the right decision - his son managed to break into big sports.

When the young talented player turned seventeen years old, quite serious clubs of the football league already closely watched him: Ajax, Hertha, PSV, Hamburg. The offer from the French Sochaux became more agile than the others and more attractive to the player himself. This club, as expected, bought a new player for the future, there was no place for him at the base, and therefore Perisic played for the youth squad and the double. In 2009, he temporarily "moved" to the Belgian club Roeselare on a leasehold basis.

Professional career

Seventeen matches for Roeselare and five goals scored did not go unnoticed, and after returning from loan the player was bought by another Belgian club, Brugge. In the new team, Ivan found opportunities to prove himself, and he almost immediately won a place in the starting lineup of this famous, one of the best clubs in Belgium.

The debut at Club Brugge took place in the match against Genk in 2009, which took place on 13 September in the framework of the national championship. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Brugge's only goal being scored by newcomer Perisic. In total, according to the results of the season, he played 33 matches and scored nine goals scored. The club took the third place in the regular championship of the country.

The club finished the next season in fourth position, and Perisic with an asset of 37 matches and 22 goals scored was recognized as the best striker of the tournament. Such a high figure and contribution to the team's results attracted the attention of the eminent German club Borussia Dortmund. In May 2011, the clubs came to an agreement, and Perisic moved to the German club for five million euros, the agreement with the player was calculated for five years.

In the new club, Perisic proved to be the best possible, almost immediately taking one of the key roles on the field. The Croatian winger's debut match took place in August 2011. The young athlete entered the game at the 75th minute, replacing more experienced teammate Chris Leve. In September of the same year, he gracefully scored an incredible goal from a distance of 20 meters against the English club Arsenal. This spectacular match took place within the Champions League, and Perisic's goal was one of the most spectacular in the group stage. In general, the season for the newcomer of Borussia turned out to be quite productive, he had 41 matches, where he scored nine goals.

In the next season, the Croat became much less likely to get into the starting lineup, this was due to a lot of competition, regular rotation and less efficiency of the player himself. During the season, Ivan has repeatedly criticized the coach of the team Jurgen Klopp, primarily reproaching him that he has "favorites" in the team. Systematic attacks on the head coach ultimately led to the club's management deciding to fine the player. Klopp himself responded to reproaches that he did not have any "favorites", and Perisic behaves like a child.

Perhaps this situation and tensions in the team led to the fact that the Croatian player left the team in the winter transfer window. Already on January 6, it was announced that Perisic was moving to another German club, Wolfsburg. For the first time for a new club, Ivan played on January 10 of the same year, four days after the transition. In the first friendly match for him in the new team against the Belgian club "Standard" Perisic scored a goal.

On January 19, Ivan entered the field in the official game against the famous "Stuttgart". In early spring of the same year, the Croatian footballer seriously injured his knee and knocked him out of the sport for a whole month. By the end of the season, he returned to the team, and already on May 11, he performed effectively in a match against his former club Borussia Dortmund. By the sixteenth minute, Wolfsburg were leading 2-0 thanks to Ivan Perisic's spectacular double, but the Wolves were unable to maintain a weighty advantage. Unfortunately, this match ended in a 3-3 draw.

Perisic played in the youth national teams of Croatia. He first appeared in the main team in 2011. As part of the qualifying games for the European Championship, he entered the field in a match against the Georgian national team. From that moment on, he became one of the main players of the national team. In 2018, at the World Championship, which was held in Russia, the Croatian national team sensationally reached the final, but there, losing to the French national team, they became the silver medalist.

In the personal life of the famous football player, everything is calm. He married his childhood friend Josipa in 2012, and the couple have two children, a son Leonardo and a daughter, Manuela. And Ivan also treats his parents tenderly, not forgetting their great sacrifice for the sake of his future.
