Carolina Herrera is a renowned Venezuelan-American fashion designer, designer and entrepreneur known for her “exceptional personal style”, the founder of Carolina Herrera New York. It was she who dressed many "first ladies", including Michelle Obama and Jacqueline Kennedy.
Biography
Carolina was born into a wealthy Venezuelan family in early 1939. The family lived in Caracas and moved to New York in the early fifties. The father, an air force officer and former governor of Caracas, is the heir to Hermogen Lopez, President of Venezuela in the 1890s.
The grandmother, a real socialite, from an early age introduced the girl to the high world of fashion, dressing her in outfits from Lanvin and Dior. According to Herrera herself, her eyes are used to seeing only beautiful things since childhood. The upbringing of a stylish grandmother determined the whole future fate of Carolina, who absorbed the traditions of good taste and craving for beauty.
Career
In the mid-sixties, Carolina began working in the boutique of Don Emilio Pucci, famous for his creativity in the fashion world. In the seventies, Carolina was recognized as one of the most stylish women in America, appearing at social events in dresses of her own design.
In the 80th year, Herrera founded her own company Carolina Herrera New York, the next year, at the suggestion of a friend who works at Vogue, she developed her own fashion line and received the approval of many fashion publications. Herrera wore Jacqueline Kennedy for the last 12 years of her life.
Carolina released her first fragrance in 1987 under a contract with the Spanish perfume company Puig. This perfume has become one of the most popular perfume brands in the world. Puig soon bought out Carolina's firm, leaving her as creative director.
In 2003, Carolina Herrera opened the CH Carolina Herrera label, and by 2016 there were about 25 thousand brand stores around the world. And in 2018, Carolina announced that she was transferring the creative leadership of the brand to Wes Gordon and wanted to devote herself to family and leisure.
In addition to her beloved business, Herreru was attracted by charity and projects that can fight world hunger. She is a representative of an international research institute that studies seaweed as a valuable resource for food production. Carolina is the recipient of many international fashion awards.
Personal life
Back in 1957, Carolina became the wife of Guillermo Berens Tello, the son of a wealthy Venezuelan landowner. This marriage did not last long, only seven years, but during this time the couple had two daughters, Mercedes and Ana. Carolina's second husband is the owner of sugar plantations, the Marquis Tore Casa. In this marriage, Herrera gave birth to two more daughters, Caroline and Patricia. All of Caroline's daughters received an excellent education and worked in the fashion world, like their mother. Now the famous woman fashion designer has many grandchildren and a big loving family.
