Love can be very selfish - this is evidenced by the story of the relationship between the aristocrat Maria Vechera and the Austrian Crown Prince Rudolf. Young people, educated and beautiful, committed suicide for the sake of love - so it is written in almost all sources.
However, love does not imply suffering, let alone death. This is a gift from above, which must be kept and rejoiced that you have it. Even if there is no reciprocity and the opportunity to be together. Because love is a giving, not a possession. Apparently, Prince Rudolph thought differently, and therefore persuaded Mary to die with him, cutting off a very young life. At least there is such a version.
Biography
Maria Alexandrina von Vechera was born in 1871 in Vienna. Her family was rich, but by the standards of the time they were not part of the upper strata of society. The girl's mother was very vain and dreamed of high society. Therefore, she attended all social events and herself often arranged receptions in her home.
Maria had a sister, and as soon as the girls grew up, her mother began to take them to balls and parties, hoping that they would attract the attention of men from aristocratic families and marry profitably. Talk about this did not stop in their house, and Maria worried that she was treated as a commodity from which to benefit.
By the age of seventeen, Evenings had turned into a real beauty with dark eyes, long thick hair and a beautiful chest voice. In addition to this, she had an easy character, complete indifference to study and a love of entertainment. She did not plan to receive an education.
In her memoirs, the Austrian Countess Marie Larish wrote that at the age of fifteen, Maria Vechera had an affair with an English officer, that is, the girl was very amorous. It happened in Cairo when my father went there with his family on diplomatic matters.
Fatal meeting
However, when they left, the lovers had to part. After that, the girl dreamed of true love and found her at the age of seventeen in the person of Prince Rudolph. She saw him at the racetrack and was amazed at his beauty and manners. Indeed, outwardly, the prince was very attractive. At that time he was twenty-nine years old, and he was known as a universal idol. Probably, there was not a single girl in Vienna, whoever was in love with him. Handsome, famous, charismatic - what else can a girl dream of?
However, no one knew about his "dark side" - a tendency to depression and suicide. It would seem that he was the son of the Austrian emperor, who received a brilliant education and has everything his heart desires … His character let him down - an emotional and sensitive young man seemed to his father incapable of state activities and was removed from important political affairs.
By the time Mary met the prince, he was married and had several mistresses. These were both noble ladies and women from brothels. For the prostitute Mizzi Kaspar, he even bought a house so that he could go to her without hindrance.
Once he invited Mizzi to leave this life together, but she refused. And when the prince met Mary, he chose her as a companion to the afterlife. It was Marie Larish who introduced Rudolph to the Evening in November 1988.
The denouement of history
And in January 1989, tragedy struck. Rudolph went to Mayerling, to his hunting lodge, followed by Maria. She ran away from home to meet him. Two days later, they were found in this house with bullet holes in their heads.
There were many versions around this story, up to a terrorist one. However, the examination showed that first Rudolph shot Maria, and a few hours later he shot himself.
