Mikhail Lvov is a famous Soviet poet, translator, member of the Writers' Union. The participant of the Great Patriotic War is the owner of the ChTZ and Orlyonok literary prizes.
Mikhail Davydovich Lvov showed himself not only in creativity, but also at the front. His courage was admired by many fighters and commanders. The real name of the writer is Rafkat Davletovich Malikov (Gabitov). He subsequently took the pseudonym after the name of his beloved poet Lermontov and the surname formed on behalf of Leo Tolstoy.
Time of childhood and years of adolescence
The future famous figure was born in 1917, on January 4 in the Bashkortostan village of Nasibash in the family of a rural teacher. The boy's mother passed away early. The child and his older brother were raised by the father. From the age of six, his son helped him in plowing the land, mowing grass, cutting firewood.
The household was not easy to maintain, but the boy did not complain. From an early age, Rafkat became a reliable support for his father, who gratefully took care of his son all his life.
The parent of the future activist was fond of poetry, he wrote poetry himself. Many of his works were written in Russian. He was the first in Bashkortostan to receive the title of a professional teacher for his work. Also Davkat Malikov was awarded the Order of Lenin.
Mikhail Davydovich studied in Zlatoust, where his grandmother lived. The boy's poems were published in the school wall newspaper. Lvov was fluent in Russian. A huge influence on the future fate of the student was exerted by his teacher of literature.
He noticed the boy's talent for writing. The teacher decided to develop Mikhail himself. He gave the high school student an impressive list of references. After reading each book, Lvov was supposed to write a small essay in the author's style.
With this approach, the entire list was studied in three years. This became the first serious literary school of the future author and a significant page in his biography. After leaving school, the graduate entered the Miass Pedagogical College, deciding to continue his father's work.
The aspiring author worked in the editorial office of the newspaper of the city of Zlatoust, took part in the work of the literary association "Martin". Lvov worked in the regional radio committee of Chelyabinsk, taught Russian language and literature at school.
Towards a calling
After receiving his education, Mikhail became a student at the Moscow Literary Institute named after Gorky. While still in college, his 1941 graduate set about writing his first book. It was published in 1940. The pre-war works are characterized by intense emotions.
By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Lvov studied and worked at the same time. He spent a lot of time at the Ural construction sites. As a feuilletonist, he scoffed at negligent workers. Together with his comrades, the young man went to the front. In the tank forces, he showed real valor, went a lot of difficult roads.
He began fighting as a private, becoming a corps liaison officer and a war correspondent. Lvov was called the poet of tankers. The young poet gained fame after the essay "To become a man - it is not enough for them to be born." And during the battles, the young author did not forget about poetry.
The most famous works of that period were "Letter" and "Stargazer". In 1944, the poet was allowed to leave for the South Urals for a short time to publish a collection of frontline poems. The collection "The Road", released in a record time, a little less than two weeks, was sent to the front to the compatriots of the author as part of parcels.
During the war, the author's collections "Ural is at war" and "My comrades" were published. The classics of Soviet literature Tikhonov, Ehrenburg, Bazhov were interested in Lvov's work. Their recommendations became a pass to the Union of Writers of the country in 1944.
In the post-war period, Mikhail Davydovich lived in Moscow. Until 1964 he lived in Peredelkino, a literary town near Moscow. Often the poet came to Chelyabinsk, which became his hometown. The Ural poet was very fond of. The book "Letter to Youth" is dedicated to him.

Lvov in the capital was in charge of the poetry department of the magazine "Yunost", was the deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "New World". In peacetime, Lviv was able to engage in literary activities. At first, he paid attention to the works of national authors.
The poems of the Kazakh classics Mailin, Sayfullin, Sarsenbaev were the most frequent for translations. In the opinion of Mikhail Davydovich himself, the works created during and after the war were imbued with tragedy and heroism. Lvov devoted his own poems to the wartime.
One of his works are the songs "Hot Snow", "Let us bow to those great years" to the music of Alexandra Pakhmutova, often played on Victory Day. In the post-war works of Lvov, the continuity of the fate of the country and its inhabitants is shown.
The poet was distinguished by great love of life, charm, kindness and spiritual generosity. He had the ability to attract people to him. Mikhail Lvov was awarded with medals and orders. Among them are the Order of the Great Patriotic War, Friendship of Peoples, "Badge of Honor".
The author was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Tatarstan, Kazakhstan and the Polish People's Republic. Throughout his life, the famous writer showed strength of mind and amazing courage. The author was amazed at the rapid changes taking place around him, changes in the habitual way of life.
Mikhail Lvov died in 1988, on January 25 in Moscow. Events held in the Urals are dedicated to his memory. One of the new streets of Chelyabinsk is named after him.
