Instructions
Step 1
All issues related to obtaining Russian citizenship are regulated by the Federal Law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”. Renounce Ukrainian citizenship before applying for Russian citizenship.
Step 2
The consulate of the Russian Federation in Ukraine is engaged in obtaining citizenship on the territory of Ukraine. The right to a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship (6 months in advance) belongs to persons whose one of the parents is a citizen of Russia and lives in the Russian Federation, people who have been married to a citizen of Russia for at least 3 years, persons who have a child - a citizen of the Russian Federation, servicemen who served by contact in the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
Step 3
You can also apply for a simplified procedure if you were a citizen of the USSR and now do not have citizenship, or if you received your profession in Russian universities after July 1, 2002. Pass the state exam for proficiency in the Russian language.
Step 4
Alas, if you do not fall into any of the above categories, then you process citizenship on a general basis. To do this, first issue a temporary registration, and after 5 years you will have the right to become a citizen of Russia.
Step 5
To obtain temporary registration, write to the department of the Office of the Federal Migration Service an application with a request to provide you with a temporary residence permit. After its issuance, you legally live in Russia for 5 years, and then apply for Russian citizenship.
Step 6
Fill out the application in writing in the prescribed form and certify with your signature and the signature of a person authorized by the state to deal with such matters. Next, pay the state fee and wait until the relevant authority considers your request and, if all documents are drawn up correctly, will issue you a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
