Russian passport is the main document proving the identity of a citizen on the territory of the country. If you are already a citizen of the Russian Federation, obtaining a passport will not take much time and effort. However, those who do not have Russian citizenship will have to collect a more impressive package of documents.

Step 1
It is easy for a Russian to obtain an internal passport. Upon reaching 14, 20, and then 45 years old, as well as when changing the last name, first name, gender and other personal data, you need to write an application, provide photographs of the established sample, bring your old passport (if this is not your first receipt of the main document) and documents, on the basis of which personal data are changed (for example, a marriage certificate). Do not forget to pay the state fee and provide the FMS employee with a receipt.
Step 2
If you lose your passport, the procedure for obtaining the main document becomes a little more complicated. You will need to write a statement about the loss of your passport addressed to the head of the territorial division of the FMS, as well as a standard application for the production of a passport. Pay a fine that is larger than the standard state duty in size, and provide documents confirming your registration at the place of residence, the status of a conscript, the presence of a spouse, children, as well as personal photographs.
Step 3
If you are a foreign citizen or stateless person, contact the FMS department for a temporary residence permit. By registering at the place of stay (that is, having issued the so-called "temporary registration"), you can legally live and work in Russia. After five years, you will be able to apply for a residence permit, and then citizenship of the Russian Federation. You can get a Russian passport only on the basis of the citizenship of this state.
Step 4
A simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship is provided for persons: - married to a citizen of the Russian Federation for at least three years;
- have a child who is a citizen of the Russian Federation;
- those who have served under a contract in the armed forces of the Russian Federation;
- citizens born on the territory of the RSFSR, now living in the republics of the former USSR. For all these categories of persons there is a general requirement: a document confirming their knowledge of the Russian language is required.
