Alina Zagitova entered the world of figure skating at the age of 5. But the young athlete won the real popularity and love of fans of this sport in 2018, showing a great performance at the Olympics in Korea.
On March 18, 2002, a girl was born in the family of a famous hockey coach in Udmurtia Ilnaz Zagitov and his wife Leysan, who was named after the legend of rhythmic gymnastics Alina Kabaeva. Alina's mother was a real fan of figure skating, and given her father's profession, the question of what the child would do in this family was not.
At the age of five, Alina started skating. Until the age of seven, figure skating classes were sparing. It cannot be said that Alina immediately fell in love with figure skating. Several times she wanted to leave sports. But every success, even a small one, forced the athlete to go forward, until the hobby turned into professional sports.
At the age of seven, serious training began under the guidance of the girl's first coach, Natalya Alekseevna Antipina. Alina's real breakthrough both in technique and in skating in general happened with the transition to coach Eteri Tutberidze. At the age of 13, the athlete leaves her native Izhevsk and goes to conquer Moscow and a new coach, relations with whom were not easy. Three months later, Alina Zagitova was expelled from among the students of Eteri Tutberidze. But soon the coach gave the skater a second chance, which she used one hundred percent.
Already in January 2016, Alina Zagitova took ninth place at the Russian Championship among juniors. And soon the figure skater takes first place at the junior Grand Prix stage, first in France, and then at a similar competition in Slovenia becomes a bronze medalist. The year ended for Alina with the second place and the silver medal of the Russian Championship.
The next year for the athlete was rich in new sports achievements. Alina wins gold in the Russian championship among juniors, wins the European Youth Olympic Festival, and also becomes the first in an adult competition - the Lombardy Cup. In addition, she is awarded the titles of the champion of Russia and the champion of Europe, as well as the master of sports of Russia of international class.
But the main event in the life of every athlete, performance at the Olympic Games, happened to Alina Zagitova in 2018 at the Games in Pyeongchang. At first, Alina's brilliant performance helped bring the Olympic silver medal in the team tournament. And then the "golden" performance took place, which left no chances even for the main rival of the skater - Evgenia Medvedeva. With her hard work and continuous work on skill, Alina Zagitova proved that young age is not an obstacle to achieving the highest sports results.
As you know, Alina now lives in Moscow with her grandmother, despite the fact that her parents and her younger sister live permanently in Izhevsk. It is the grandmother who is the person who supports and guides the skater in her sports career.
