Step 1
Withdrawal from the citizenship of the Russian Federation is the legal right of any citizen of Russia to terminate mutual obligations with the state. This act is carried out on the basis of the voluntary expression of the will of the citizen. The decision to grant the petition to renounce Russian citizenship is made by the President of the Russian Federation.
Step 2
There is also a simplified procedure for renouncing citizenship. So, if both of you or one of the parents, spouse, spouse or child have a different citizenship, the issue is resolved without the intervention of the president. The same procedure is provided if you are leaving for another state for permanent residence or are already living abroad.
Step 3
The withdrawal from Russian citizenship of a child, if one of his parents is a citizen of the Russian Federation, and the other is a foreign citizen, is also carried out in a simplified manner on the basis of a joint application of both parents. If you are the only parent and a citizen of a foreign state, your application as a single parent will serve as the basis for withdrawing the child from the citizenship.
Step 4
The legislation provides for a ban on renouncing the citizenship of the Russian Federation in cases where: a) you have unfulfilled obligations to the state established by the laws of the Russian Federation (for example, the deadline has approached and a summons for military service has been received); b) you are prosecuted in a conviction of the court has already entered into force as an accused or against you; c) if you do not have any other citizenship, except for the citizenship of Russia, and convincing guarantees of obtaining it.
