Step 1

The songs of Viktor Tsoi found a response in the soul of every Russian who lived in the turbulent 1980s. Gorbachev, perestroika, revolutions in Europe, the fall of the Iron Curtain … In the Soviet Union, "changes were expected." However, Victor himself did not live to see the peak of these changes, having died in a car accident on August 15, 1990. According to the official version, Choi fell asleep while driving and flew into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a bus.

Several documentaries have been filmed about the life and work of the famous rock idol. In 1991, shortly after the death of the singer, director Alexander Razbash released the documentary Man in Black. This film includes reflections and memories of Tsoi's relatives and friends, rare documentary footage, footage of a home collection. Of course, this film is also filled with the songs of Tsoi himself, his music and poetry.

In 1992, another documentary film dedicated to the memory of the rock singer was released. The name "The Last Hero" was borrowed from one of the most famous songs of the "Kino" group. The film was directed by the eminent Russian director Alexei Uchitel. The documentary includes rare concert recordings of "Kino", amateur filming of the musicians' life off stage, interviews with people who knew Tsoi closely. Alexey Uchitel very competently recreates the atmosphere of those years and allows fans to spend a whole hour with his idol.

14 years later, another film about the life and work of Tsoi, entitled "You Just Want to Know", was released on the screens. Filming took place from November 2004 to February 2006. This film sets itself a different goal than previous documentaries. Documentary footage here is interspersed with computer graphics, half hints. Thanks to such techniques, the viewer, even after so many years, can feel the energy of that turbulent time.
