Thomas McNulty is a famous British footballer who played as a full-back. He made his debut with Manchester United FC and later played for Liverpool.
Biography
The future football player was born in December 1929 on the thirtieth in the English town of Salford. Thomas grew up a very active child and especially loved to play football. He loved not only to kick the ball, but also to watch football matches, trying to analyze the game of professionals. From an early age, he dreamed of someday being in his favorite club, Manchester United.
When Tom turned sixteen, he had a chance to prove himself and achieve his cherished dream. In May 1945, he was screened at the Manchester United Football Academy. The talented youth demonstrated his sports creativity and was able to impress the club's management.
Carier start
In June 1947, McNulty signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils. Nevertheless, he continued to play for the club's youth squad for a long time. He began to declare as a player of the main team in 1949, and a full-fledged debut took place a year later. In the colors of the "red devils" at the professional level, Thomas first appeared on the fifteenth of April 1950 in a match against the football club "Portsmouth" from the city of the same name.
During the first season, McNulty proved to the head coach that he was worthy to be part of the team and was firmly entrenched in the base. The following season, the Red Devils won the tournament, capturing the English title. The club's full-back Thomas McNulty made an invaluable contribution to this result. After a successful season, he played for the Manchester club for another two years. During this time, he played 57 games in the colors of Manchester United.
Liverpool Football Club
In February 1954, a perfectly acceptable transfer for those years took place, Manchester United and Liverpool reached an agreement and signed a deal for 7000 pounds, according to which Thomas McNulty continued his career in the camp of the Liverpool. At that time, there was still no irreconcilable spirit of rivalry between these clubs, so the transfer did not cause any special emotions among the fans of both clubs.
In the same 1954 he made his debut in the "Reds" against FC "Sheffield Wednesday". Despite the experience gained in the “Red Devils”, McNulty's strength and capabilities were not enough for Liverpool to produce a decent result. Moreover, in the 54/55 season, the club finished in last place and was relegated to the second division. After that, cardinal changes were made in the composition, which subsequently affected Thomas. The club has a new player, Roy Lambert, to whom McNulty lost his place.
During his four years at the club, Thomas appeared on the field only 36 times. At the end of the contract, he decided to give up football and did not appear on the field again. The famous football player died at the age of fifty in 1979, surrounded by his family.
