Faithful friends

One of the most famous actor dogs was a collie dog named Pal. Viewers knew him by a different name - Lassie. The character of an active and devoted dog, connected with a strong friendship with a little boy, was invented by writer Eric Knight in his novel Lassie Comes Home. In 1943, the book was filmed under the same name. Since then, more than 25 films and TV series have been made about Lassie. In most of them, the main character was played by Pal or his descendants, and also males. The thing is that the dogs of this breed are larger, more resilient and practically do not shed, which cannot be said about the collie girl, because of which the shooting would have to be stopped twice a year. Lassie's popularity has earned her a personal star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A dog of the Akita Inu breed from Tokyo named Hachiko became famous for his boundless devotion. Every day he accompanied his master to the railway station when he went to work, and in the evening he met him. When the owner was gone, Hachiko continued to come to the station until his death. The story, made famous by a Japanese journalist, was filmed twice. In the 2009 motion picture with Richard Gere, the role of Hachiko was played by three puppies and adult dogs: Chiko, Laila and Forest.

Police dogs

Many viewers fell in love with a fearless, noble and witty dog named Rex. The role of the tailed cop in the movie "Commissioner Rex" was played by a German shepherd named Bijay. When the dog was 17 months old, he took part in the casting and was selected from among forty applicants. In preparation for filming, Bijay spent four hours a day in training with professional dog handlers, where he learned more than 30 commands. His signature act - stealing a bun with sausage from the table - without which not a single episode of the series could do.

Another faithful companion of the police officer was a dog named Jerry Lee in the film "K-9", which tells about the everyday life of an employee of the anti-narcotics department. It was not difficult for a shepherd named Coton to get used to the role, since she was a real police bloodhound, trained to search for drugs. In real life, the dog took part in 24 arrests. In the line of duty, the star dog was shot dead in 1991.

The main character of the Russian detective television series "Return of Mukhtar" is also a shepherd dog. In 750 episodes, 10 dogs starred playing the role of Mukhtar. The first stars of the television series were brothers Vargun and Duncan from Moscow. These East European Shepherd Dogs have replaced each other in episodes. After them, Muhu was played by a Kiev German shepherd named Zeiss. All subsequent performers of the role of a police dog were also German shepherds. In the last seasons of the series, Mukhtar was played by Graf Schutz Hund and Rex Schutz Hund.
