Parr Maria is a children's writer from Norway. She is called "the new Astrid Lingren", as Maria Parr's book entitled "Waffle Heart" is to some extent reminiscent of the language of a celebrity. The girl herself confirms the fact that Lingren's work really always inspires her to new achievements in the literary field.
Biography
In a small village called Fiskå, which is located in Norway, Fiskobugd, commune Vanyulven, on January 18, 1981, Parr Maria, the future writer, was born. She studied at the University of Bergen at the Department of Norwegian Literature. After graduating from this educational institution, Maria entered the Higher School, located in the city of Volda (in the same place, in Norway), where she continued her literary education.
Creation
The first book by Maria Parr was published in 2005. Her "Waffle Heart" made an indelible effect on readers, for which the girl was named the second Astrid Lingren. The work of Lingren "The Lionheart Brothers" had a special influence on the work of the young writer. Maria herself considers the comparison with the eminent author at least strange. The source of inspiration is yes, and as for 100% similarity, Parr fundamentally disagrees with this.
The book "Waffle Heart" was translated into 30 languages, Russia was no exception (the Russian version was published thanks to the translation of Olga Drobot), among the countries where the book was published were Norway, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands. The illustrations in the original Norwegian edition are by Boo Gaustad and Oschild Irgens. In 2010, the book "Tonya Glimmerdal" was published. It is noteworthy, but initially the work was called differently - "Torah". According to Maria, at first it even embarrassed her a little, the reason for such a radical change turned out to be commonplace - in Norwegian literature very few works are dedicated to female representatives.
In 2010, the writer came to Russia, to the Non / fiction book fair with the aim of presenting her new book "Tonya Glimmerdal". The exhibition took place in Moscow, at the Central House of Artists. On the second day of her stay in the capital, Maria taught the program "10 minutes about values", later she visited the Education Center # 2010 as part of an international project of the Norwegian-Russian High School.
Maria was asked more than once if she had a desire to create a book for the adult population, to which she no doubt answered: “no”. She writes exclusively for children and she loves it. In her words, writing adult books does not compare with the current activities of the writer. Maria remembers childhood and adolescence so clearly that she writes about the problems associated with this period.
Titles and awards
In 2005, the writer received the main award at the ceremony of Children's literature in the New Norwegian language (with the book "Waffle Heart"). In 2006, the same work won Maria Parr the Vicar Alfred Andersson-Rüsts Foundation Prize. The year 2008 was marked by the receipt of the "Silver Lead" prize in Holland. In 2009, Maria received four significant awards: the Teshehjerringa Prize, the main Brageprisen award (the name of the award comes from Braga - the god of poetry among the ancient Scandinavians), the category: "books for children and youth" (the book "Tonya Glimmerdal"). Ole Vig Prize (in the nomination were the books "Waffle Heart" and "Tonya Glimmerdal"), the "Luchs" Prize (which means Lynx) in Germany (for the book "Tonya Glimmerdal"). In 2010, Maria Parr received the Norwegian Critics Association Prize (Tonya Glimmerdahl), the Sorsier Prize in France for the Waffle Heart book. In 2018, Maria received the Ord i grenseland award (literally means "words in the borderland", in Fredrikstad. The jury of the contests agree that the girl was simply created for literary creation, the language of her works is easy and understandable. Her books are imbued with love for nature, love for people, she portrays life as if from the point of view of a small child - big, multifaceted, filled with small details. Maria Parr's books are loved not only by the children's audience, adult readers are also happy to immerse themselves in the work of this wonderful writer.
Maria Parr began to write at a fairly young age, preferring to dissolve in creativity instead of the usual games with friends. The girl believes that sometimes the abilities of adolescents are underestimated by adults, who consider them too young for serious mental work. According to the writer, each teenager is individual in its own way and has its own flavor, and each childhood is equally important. This is what she often writes about in her works. Maria admits that she has no problems with imagination, but her feelings are often the source of inspiration. She writes when she feels bad and sad, Maria tries to immediately pour her emotions onto paper in order to convey as accurately as possible what she is feeling.
Personal life
There is no information on the network about the writer's husband, apparently, she prefers not to disclose the details of her personal life. It is known that Mary has two children.
