It is necessary

  • - application for obtaining a residence permit;
  • - 4 photographs 35x45 mm, identity and citizenship documents; - documents confirming the availability of housing in Russia (for example, an apartment rental agreement);
  • - temporary residence permit;
  • - documents confirming the availability of funds (bank statement); - certificates of absence of HIV infection and drug addiction. In some cases, you may need other documents (for example, for children).

Instructions

Step 1

To obtain a residence permit, you need to have a temporary residence permit in Russia, unless you belong to certain categories of persons (for example, these are citizens of Belarus, stateless persons who previously held citizenship of the USSR, who arrived in the Russian Federation before the entry into force Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation").

Step 2

Organize the translation and legalization of your documents that are not in Russian. The accuracy of the translation and the authenticity of the translator's signature must be certified by a notary. It is better to start doing this in advance, since the package of documents is quite large. If you have children, then remember that you will need to properly translate, certify and submit documents for them too (birth certificate).

Step 3

No later than six months before the expiration of the temporary residence permit, you need to apply to the territorial (at the place of residence) body of the FMS with a package of documents. Within six months, the FMS body will make a decision on issuing you a residence permit. You will receive a notification by mail about the decision.

Step 4

After receiving the notification, contact the same FMS body directly for obtaining a residence permit. Upon receipt of the notification, register at the place of residence by submitting the appropriate application. Every year you have to confirm your registration.

Step 5

The residence permit is issued for a five-year period and can be renewed an unlimited number of times. You should apply for an extension no later than six months before its expiration date.
