Citizenship of the Republic of the Czech Republic can be granted by birth, adoption, paternity and the child's presence in the territory of this country. The only way to obtain Czech citizenship for an adult is by granting it by the Ministry of the Interior after the applicant has completed the mandatory procedures.
Instructions
Step 1
Get permanent residence status in the Czech Republic. After arriving in the Czech Republic on a legal basis, register with the police at the department for foreigners. Renew your Czech visa in time. After five years of legal residence, you will receive permanent residence in the Czech Republic, it gives the same rights that Czech citizens have, except for the electoral, the right to serve in the army and travel freely in the Schengen countries. 5 years of legal residence in the territory of the Czech Republic is a prerequisite for obtaining citizenship.
Step 2
Apply for a renunciation of Russian citizenship. To do this, write an application for termination of citizenship and submit it to the Department of Internal Affairs at your place of residence. Attach documents about your place of residence to the application, pay the state fee. Get a certificate that your application is accepted for consideration. This is necessary, since the legislation of the Czech Republic does not provide for the opportunity to have two or more citizenships.
Step 3
Learn Czech enough to pass the written and oral exam. The exam is taken by employees of the municipality at the place of permanent residence of the applicant for citizenship. The list of questions and criteria for assessing knowledge are established by the Ministry of Education and Physical Education of the Czech Republic.
Step 4
Do not commit crimes, pay taxes regularly while living in the Czech Republic. Compliance with this condition is also mandatory for the last five years, otherwise citizenship will be refused.
Step 5
Contact the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic with a written application for citizenship. After a positive decision on your issue, take the oath in Czech in the presence of the mayor of the city in which you live.
