But getting Cypriot citizenship for a foreigner is much more difficult, although this can be done in several ways.

In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Cyprus, a person who has one or both Cypriot parents, is married to a Cypriot citizen or has lived in Cyprus for at least 7 years can apply for the citizenship of this country. There is another very short and simple way to obtain Cypriot citizenship, but only suitable for wealthy people willing to invest in the Cypriot economy. To do this, you need to transfer 17 million euros to accounts in a Cypriot bank and provide the relevant documents to the immigration service. A close option is the procedure for obtaining citizenship for businessmen and investors. In this case, the applicant must either make direct investments in the economy in the amount of 26 million euros and own real estate, or create a company that has been successfully operating for 5 years, or introduce new innovative technologies by creating research centers and laboratories.
Step 3
For the majority of migrants who do not have Cypriot parents and do not belong to large business owners, the most accessible ways of obtaining citizenship as a result of marriage with a citizen of the country or after living in its territory for the required period of 7 years. It is important to consider that an application for citizenship as a result of marriage with a local resident can be submitted no earlier than three years of residence in Cyprus. Moreover, the migration service will require confirmation of the reality of the marriage relationship, so in this case it will not be possible to get off with a fictitious marriage.
Step 4
Prior to obtaining citizenship as a result of the period of residence, you will first have to obtain a residence permit, which will allow you to legally stay in Cyprus. The residence permit is either temporary, for a period of one year, or permanent. It is important to remember that a residence permit alone does not entitle you to work in Cyprus. There are two ways to get around this prohibition: either find a Cypriot employer who is ready to hire you, or create your own company, but it must have at least one employee from among local citizens. You can also get a residence permit without the right to work by providing documents on the presence of regular income in your country or on the state of a bank account that provides an annual income of at least 4500 euros.
